Caution: Spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 26, "Hidden Inventory 2", currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
The beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen's second season was filled with exciting moments, and the second episode seamlessly continues where the first episode left off. Alongside advancing the main storyline of the Star Plasma Vessel bodyguard mission, "Hidden Inventory 2" delves into Gojo's abilities and reveals the true danger that Megumi's father poses.
The Chosen One
This episode also includes a few entertaining scenes featuring Satoru and Suguru joking around while effortlessly defeating the Q and the bounty hunters. However, the primary focus of this episode is to build anticipation for the upcoming clash between Gojo and Toji Fushiguro. To achieve this, the episode delves into Toji's perspective on the confrontation, providing insights into his character and overall personality.Starting from the beginning, this episode sheds light on Gojo's extraordinary abilities that elevate him to the pinnacle of sorcerer power. In terms of sheer strength, he is regarded as invincible in his current stage of life due to his innate advantages. As Toji explains, what truly sets Satoru Gojo apart is his rare lineage. He is the first individual in centuries to possess both the Six Eyes and the Limitless technique, making him a truly unparalleled talent.
The Six Eyes are an innate ability exclusive to the Gojo family, similar to the Byakugan or the Sharingan in the Naruto universe. With the Six Eyes, the user can perceive the flow of cursed energy and accurately comprehend cursed techniques, resulting in enhanced awareness. Additionally, this ability grants the user precise control over cursed energy. However, inheriting this power is rare within the Gojo clan, with several hundred years passing before a new user emerges. It is impossible for two individuals to possess the Six Eyes simultaneously.
Despite their usefulness, the Six Eyes have their drawbacks. They are a persistent trait that cannot be switched off and often lead to fatigue. As a result, Satoru frequently covers his eyes whenever possible, although this does not completely deactivate their effect. The primary purpose of the Six Eyes is to enable the use of the Limitless technique, another inherited gift of the Gojo family. This god-like power allows the user to manipulate and distort space at will. While the Limitless technique is more commonly seen in the clan, only those with the Six Eyes can truly master its immense power.
Limitless has a wide range of applications. It has the ability to halt anything (Infinity), generate magnetism (Blue), enable short-range instant movement (also Blue), or produce a destructive repulsive force (Red). In this episode, Satoru demonstrated his imperfect control over Red. By combining Blue and Red, it forms Purple, a fusion of convergence and divergence that obliterates anything it comes into contact with. Additionally, they can employ long-distance teleportation by compressing the space between their current location and desired destination. The Domain of the Limitless ensnares the target within the concept of infinity, rendering them in a catatonic state.
An Awful Father But An Even Worse Enemy
After explaining Gojo's innate abilities, it seems virtually impossible to find a way to defeat him in a fair fight. Toji shares the same sentiment, and his interesting behavior only adds to his negative reputation. He appears to lack interest in his mission, showing no knowledge of Megumi when asked about him and spending his entire day gambling and losing money.
However, when it comes to killing sorcerers, Toji is widely recognized as the best. This time, he faces his most challenging target yet - the Star Plasma Vessel, who is protected by the two talented sorcerers, Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto. Though Toji's powers remain a mystery, he is said to be at least more powerful than Suguru and possibly on par with Gojo. Bearing this in mind, Toji's first move is to place a hefty bounty on Riko's head within a specific time frame. He knows that with Gojo's presence, no one will be able to capture her. To tire Gojo out, Toji enlists a group of sorcerers to work for him without charge. As fatigue sets in, Gojo's Six Eyes ability weakens, making it harder for him to control his Limitless power. This provides Toji with the perfect opportunity.
In the meantime, as he waits for his chance to strike, he appears composed and unaffected by the possibility of failure. His previous actions, manipulating bounty hunters, has already compelled Gojo to use his powers and resulted in Kuroi being abducted. Unbeknownst to them, Toju holds the advantage. His imminent attack will undoubtedly pose the greatest challenge Gojo has ever faced, impacting not only his own life but also his relationship with Suguru. Their previously arrogant demeanor in overpowering adversaries is about to undergo a significant shift.
