Highlights
Ubisoft Massive's upcoming open-world RPG, Star Wars Outlaws, offers players the chance to venture into the rich Star Wars universe and delve into a multitude of iconic locations. Among these are Nar Shaddaa, Nal Hutta, Coruscant, Naboo, and Canto Bight.
Players can explore various locations that offer different environments and exciting criminal activities as they assume the role of Kay Vess, a smuggler aiming to establish her reputation in a galaxy governed by the Empire. Certain locations present lucrative job opportunities and thrilling escapes, while places like Naboo allow players to unwind and appreciate the beautiful green scenery and impressive architecture, providing a refreshing change of pace from the adrenaline-fueled gameplay.
In the past 46 years, the expansive Galaxy Far, Far Away has continuously grown. The initial Star Wars film depicted only two planets and a space station, but since then, there has been an abundance of comic books, novels, TV shows, movies, and video games that have further developed the Star Wars galaxy. These additions have introduced a wide range of ecosystems to the universe, including the snowy plains of Hoth, the sandy dunes of Tatooine, and the volcanic fields of Mustafar. The Star Wars Outlaws game, developed by Ubisoft Massive, claims to be the first truly open-world Star Wars role-playing game. Players will assume the role of Kay Vess, a new and ambitious smuggler aiming to establish her reputation in the galaxy. However, with the Empire's control over most star systems, Vess, like any other determined criminal in space, will have to conduct her operations in the most disreputable corners of the galaxy. Fortunately, the Star Wars universe already offers a plethora of such locations ready to be explored.
Star Wars Outlaws - Nar Shaddaa
One of the most notorious locations in the expanded universe of Star Wars is Nar Shaddaa. It is widely known as a crime-infested planet in the Star Wars galaxy, which makes it an ideal setting for Star Wars Outlaws. Although Nar Shaddaa has been mentioned in various canon comics and novels, it has yet to make its debut in the mainstream canon. Star Wars Outlaws presents the perfect opportunity to introduce this neon-soaked city, which serves as a sanctuary for the most dangerous criminals in the galaxy. Kay Vess is certain to find lucrative employment amidst the bustling criminal underworld of Nar Shaddaa.
Star Wars Outlaws - Nal Hutta
Located beneath the moon of Nar Shaddaa, Nal Hutta serves as the native planet of the infamous Hutts, renowned crime lords. If one seeks unsavory tasks, none match the Hutts' eagerness to provide them. Although Nal Hutta may lack visual allure as a Star Wars Outlaws planet due to its swampy habitat, it offers plentiful diversity and sets the stage for exhilarating speeder bike pursuits.
Star Wars Outlaws - Coruscant
Another captivating setting to explore in Star Wars Outlaws is Coruscant, a neon-lit criminal underworld. Despite being the heart and home of the Empire, Coruscant's lower levels continue to harbor a significant amount of illegal activity. Infiltration missions set in Coruscant's challenging environment provide an exhilarating experience, offering enticing rewards for those willing to take on the considerable risks involved.
Star Wars Outlaws - Naboo
While being a smuggler during the Galactic Empire era entails significant risks, Star Wars Outlaws shouldn't solely revolve around non-stop action. It is crucial for the game to provide players with moments of respite, and the planet of Naboo could serve as an ideal sanctuary. Featuring lush verdant forests, sprawling fields, and breathtaking architecture, Naboo offers the perfect setting for players to take a break in Star Wars Outlaws. However, it is important to note that the Empire still maintains a presence on the planet, creating opportunities for thrilling escapes should Vess's notoriety become too pronounced.
Star Wars Outlaws - Canto Bight
Canto Bight, a controversial locale in the Star Wars universe, may not have been effectively utilized in The Last Jedi. However, it would be an excellent choice for a setting in Star Wars Outlaws. Known as a planet synonymous with opulence, it is logical that high-ranking Imperial officers would choose to unwind on the lavish casino planet of Canto Bight. This wealth also creates opportunities for smugglers like Kay Vess. Star Wars Outlaws is set to release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2024.
