Fallout 76 players can look forward to the highly anticipated Once In A Blue Moon update, which is set to release on June 20, 2023, coinciding with the launch of Season 13, Shoot For The Stars. While the Fallout 76 community has already received a sneak peek of what the update has to offer through the public test server, players can still expect a few surprises when the content is officially released. This major update is completely free and will introduce new cryptid enemies, fresh quests, Public Events, and various quality-of-life improvements, along with significant overhauls to existing locations.
Everything New Coming in Fallout 76's Once In A Blue Moon Update
The Once In A Blue Moon update has introduced two intriguing cryptid enemies that are rooted in West Virginian folklore. These mutated creatures, namely the Blue Devil and the Ogua, are set to appear in the two new Public Events of the update, as well as in random encounters outside of these events. The Blue Devil, a werewolf with the ability to inflict the Fear status on players, and the Ogua, a giant turtle that can retreat inside its shell for protection, promise to make for some thrilling battles.
However, the new Public Events do not solely revolve around these cryptids. Safe and Sound is a wave defense event, while Beasts of Burden offers a range of objective types, both culminating in a showdown with the new enemies. As these are the featured Public Events, they are expected to occur frequently, providing ample opportunities for players to reap the rewards. Players are advised to keep an eye out for the powerful Named Legendary weapons that can be obtained from these events.
The upcoming Once In a Blue Moon update for Fallout 76 will introduce new main quests for players to embark on, offering exciting rewards to collect along the way. These quests will require players to team up with the Blue Ridge Caravan faction, similar to the new Public Events. Keep in mind that since these quests are considered main quests, they can only be completed once per character. Additionally, the update will address the Stamps controversy in Fallout 76, along with other general improvements. The Ultracell Battery Charge currency will be removed, allowing players to launch an unlimited number of Expeditions, which were previously limited to once per day. Furthermore, the cost of items from the Stamps vendor will be rebalanced to offer lower prices. Another notable change is the expansion of weapon performance descriptions, which will now provide detailed information about the stat differences provided by mods in the workbench crafting interfaces.
Players should take note of the upcoming changes in Fallout 76's new update, including the renovation of Cranberry Glade and Middle Mountain Cabins to accommodate new Public Events. Players with CAMPs near these locations may need to relocate. Additionally, a new mutation called Danger Cloud will be introduced in Daily Ops missions, which will drain nearby players' health and AP with an aura surrounding enemies. These additions promise to bring a lot of exciting content to the game. Fallout 76 is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
