The latest State of Play showcased Spider-Man 2's impressive new open world. Numerous aspects of the game's open-world features have been enhanced, such as the maps, activities, fast travel, and district progress.
The revamped map now boasts a nearly twofold increase in size, thanks to the addition of Queens and Brooklyn. The inclusion of web wings allows players to not only swing through the city but also glide effortlessly. Notable new Spider-Man-related locations comprise Peter Parker's former high school, Midtown High, and Miles' current educational institution, Brooklyn Visions Academy.
While exploring, you have the freedom to switch between the characters of Miles Morales and Peter Parker. During your adventures, you may come across various attention-grabbing elements in the world, such as a group of bird bots belonging to Kraven or a mysterious symbol being projected. Both Spider-Men are equipped with augmented reality technology in their masks, allowing you to see pop-up messages appearing above the environment. To stay updated on activities and hear from the residents of New York City, you can access the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man app. Some tasks can be completed by either Spider-Man, while others are specific to Peter or Miles.
By progressing through the different districts, you will unlock new rewards and gain access to fast travel options. As you continue playing, you will have the opportunity to unlock additional abilities, technologies, and suits for both Spider-Men. With a wide range of choices, the game offers over 65 suits, which include original designs and pay homage to the comics and films. To add a personal touch, you can also customize your suits using the Suit Style system.
Spider-Man 2 launches on October 20. The game will reportedly take up 98 GB of storage.
