Capcom has recently released an exciting update for the highly anticipated remake of Resident Evil 2, four years after its initial launch. Given the immense popularity of the original Resident Evil 2, it was only natural that fans expressed their desire for a proper remake, similar to what was done with the first Resident Evil game. Unfortunately, fans had to endure over two decades of anticipation before finally being able to enjoy the Resident Evil 2 remake.
However, the long wait was undeniably worth it. The Resident Evil 2 remake received widespread critical acclaim upon release, praised for its stunning graphics, attention to detail, replay value, and the terrifying presence of the Mr. X tyrant. While the game was already a complete and immersive experience from the start, Capcom has continued to support it post-launch with updates that address any bugs and, in some instances, even introduce new content.
The latest update for the Resident Evil 2 remake showcases Capcom's dedication to the game. This update specifically targets the Steam and PS5/Xbox Series X versions. On Steam, the display language now includes Latin American Spanish, and Capcom has also resolved issues with certain Resident Evil 2 remake achievements not being properly displayed in certain languages. Additionally, various bugs and concerns have been addressed. The patch notes for the PS5/Xbox Series X versions are almost identical, although these versions did not encounter the achievement language issues.
Capcom may have concluded releasing significant new content for the remake of Resident Evil 2, but fans of the franchise can still anticipate exciting developments in the near future. Although official plans have not been disclosed, leaks suggest that Capcom is preparing a major update for the remake of Resident Evil 4. This update would include the highly sought-after Separate Ways campaign as an additional feature in the game. It remains uncertain whether this update would be provided free of charge or if the Separate Ways campaign would be available as paid DLC.
Moreover, fans of the Resident Evil series can also look forward to fresh and immersive experiences on the horizon. Although Capcom has yet to make an official announcement, rumors circulate that Resident Evil 9 is currently under active development.
