Kraven the Hunter, a character set to expand the Sony Spider-Man Universe, is depicted in a fan art battling Venom. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, known for his role as Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron, will now portray Kraven in his own film. The upcoming movie, Kraven the Hunter, will delve into the complex backstory of Sergei Kravinoff, while also featuring other notable Spider-Man villains like Chameleon and Rhino. Following the release of the official Kraven the Hunter trailer, fans are already eager for crossovers. In response, a crossover fan art by Venomhology showcases Kraven facing off against Tom Hardy's Venom.
Will Venom Appear In Kraven The Hunter?
Kraven the Hunter is following in the footsteps of the Venom movies by exploring the antihero path for its main character, Sergei. This strategy allows Sony's Spider-Man Universe to continue without the presence of the web-slinger. While Sergei embraces a morally ambiguous persona as a hero, the film will introduce the comic book villain known as The Foreigner as its central antagonist. As of now, there is no news about Hardy reprising his role as Eddie Brock in the upcoming film, Kraven the Hunter. Unless unseen footage of Hardy filming scenes for the movie has yet to be revealed, it seems unlikely that the antihero will make an appearance. However, Sony Pictures is clearly exploring the idea of more crossovers within their Spider-Man Universe, as evident from the mention of the web-slinger in the official synopsis of Kraven the Hunter.
It is important to remember that Morbius introduced the concept of interconnectedness between films when Venom was mentioned in the 2022 installment. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse took it a step further by having the character Spot visit Sony's Spider-Man Universe (Earth-688), where he briefly encountered Mrs. Chen, a recurring character in the Venom movies. Even if Kraven the Hunter does not physically feature the Symbiote, it would not be surprising if Venom or Morbius were mentioned in Taylor-Johnson's film to remind audiences of the shared continuity.
However, it would be quite a surprise if Tom Hardy, who plays Venom, were to make a post-credits appearance in Kraven the Hunter. Since it has not been confirmed whether or not there will be a post-credits scene in the film, it would be impressive if Sony Pictures managed to keep a secret Venom cameo until the movie's release. For now, it remains to be seen how Kraven the Hunter will pave the way for future crossovers within Sony's Spider-Man Universe, including Venom 3, which is set to start filming this year.
