Unleashing Clayface: Robert Pattinson's Expert Tips for the Batman Part 2

During an interview, Robert Pattinson shared a humorous suggestion for bringing Clayface to the big screen in The Batman Part 2. The character, known as a shape-shifting monster, has been prominently featured in a variety of Batman media, including comics, video games, and the animated series. In his origin story, which was depicted in an episode of Batman: The Animated Series titled “Feat of Clay,” Clayface is portrayed as a disfigured actor who turns to an untested serum to maintain his movie star looks. However, the serum's side effects ultimately transform him into the villainous Clayface. Pattinson expressed his interest in seeing the character make an appearance in The Batman Part 2.

Reeves was asked if he planned on incorporating fantastical elements into his Batman franchise during a Q&A session for an early press screening of The Batman. He used Mr. Freeze as an example of how he enjoys exploring the fantastical in his work. Dylan Clarke agreed with Reeves, but Pattinson was said to disagree and suggest that they should feature Clayface next. Pattinson was described as grinning and jokingly suggested that they should "just get a guy and put some clay on his face!"

Recent insider claims suggest that Clayface may appear in The Batman Part 2 or even be the focus of a rumored standalone film pitched by Doctor Sleep director Mike Flanagan. These reports align with previous news that Reeves was meeting with writers to plan projects centered around various Batman villains, including Scarecrow, Clayface, and Professor Pyg. The franchise seems to be open to exploring all avenues, beginning with The Penguin series that will serve as a bridge between The Batman and The Batman Part 2. In this series, Penguin may be in possession of the serum responsible for Clayface's condition. Pattinson's vision for Clayface may not stray too far from the Golden Age adaptation, and with the impressive practical effects used for the Joker and Penguin in the first film, a Clayface adaptation could be a disturbing addition to a detective story that blurs the line between reality and illusion.

The Batman Part 2 is scheduled to be released on October 3, 2025.
