Highlights

Players of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will encounter human NPCs in the upcoming Zombies mode, adding a new challenge to the game.

The human non-player characters (NPCs) are affiliated with the antagonist Takeo Masaki and have established defensive measures across the map in order to safeguard their resources.

In order to confront the private military company (PMC), players can employ zombie distractions to infiltrate their bases and pilfer resources. However, it should be noted that the enemy NPCs possess a higher level of artificial intelligence compared to conventional zombies.

Activision has confirmed that players will encounter human NPCs in the upcoming Zombies mode as part of the build-up to the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The information was revealed at the Call of Duty: Next event, where developers discussed the future of Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

During the event on October 3, players were given a preview of the various multiplayer modes in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. When the game launches on November 10, players will have access to 12 game modes and 16 remastered maps from Modern Warfare 2. While information about the standard PVP options has been extensively covered, details about the accompanying Zombies mode have been kept secret.

During the Call of Duty: Next livestream, Treyarch developers made an announcement that human NPCs will now be present in the expansive open-world Zombies map in Modern Warfare 3. These NPCs are part of a PMC group of hired mercenaries who are affiliated with the cunning villain Takeo Masaki, last seen in Black Ops 4: Zombies. These NPCs have established defensive measures across the map to protect their stash of Aetherium Crystals. Players can choose to engage with the PMC, potentially earning additional progression, or simply ignore them altogether.

For those opting to confront the PMC, a formidable challenge awaits, as the AI utilized for these enemies is more intelligent than the typical undead hordes players are accustomed to facing. To aid players, the Treyarch team suggests enticing a group of zombies towards the PMC bases, causing chaos and providing an opportunity for players to infiltrate the bases and loot valuable resources. Undoubtedly, players will develop their own strategies as they familiarize themselves with the revamped Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Players can get a taste of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 before its full release, with multiple open beta tests scheduled in the upcoming weeks. Those who pre-order the game on the PS5 or PS4 stores will gain access to the beta from October 6 to October 10. Afterwards, it will be available to all PlayStation players from October 8 to 10. PC and Xbox gamers will have their turn during the following weekend, with early access beta tests running from October 12 to 16, and the open beta starting on October 14. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will officially launch on November 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
