In this installment, players could uncover a handful of straightforward Easter eggs that rewarded them with audio logs, providing small glimpses into the lore of the zombies' origin.

However, it was in Call of Duty: Black Ops where the story truly began to heat up. After the crew passes through a teleporter in Der Riese, they find themselves transported to the future, and this is when things start spiraling out of control. The Zombies storyline of Black Ops concludes with the crew on the moon, where Richtofen transfers his soul into a young girl and sets off a series of missile explosions, ultimately destroying the Earth. Then, in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's Origins map, a parallel timeline version of the crew called Primis is introduced, and the narrative only intensifies from there.

The absurd and over-the-top nature of Call of Duty Zombies' story is what attracts fans.
