Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have released a brand-new update video featuring exciting news about Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. This much-anticipated game will now include a thrilling bonus feature: a special demo of the eighth mainline game in the series, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Like a Dragon Gaiden focuses on Kazuma Kiryu, who has joined the ranks of the Daidoji Faction as an agent. It not only serves as a standalone game but also acts as a link between Yakuza 6, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, providing insight into Kiryu Kazuma's perspective throughout the events of these three Like a Dragon games.
The video begins with Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio director, Masayoshi Yokoyama, summarizing some key elements that fans have already learned about the game. Yokoyama then takes the opportunity to unveil several new videos showcasing fresh storylines and gameplay features. These include Kiryu's new Agent and Yakuza fighting styles, the hostesses of Gaiden's Cabaret Club, and Karaoke mini-games. After highlighting the exciting gameplay features of Gaiden, a special cutscene is presented.
The video showcases a brief scene from Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, where Kasuga Ichiban finds himself in handcuffs while in Hawaii. To his surprise, Kiryu sets him free. Additionally, the video announces a "Special Trial" for Infinite Wealth, which can be downloaded upon purchasing Like a Dragon Gaiden.
Yokoyama mentions that fans may be surprised to know that a demo of Infinite Wealth will be included with Like a Dragon Gaiden. He further explains that this demo will feature exclusive content not found in the main game, which can be accessed after completing Gaiden. Yokoyama also reveals that Gaiden will have hands-on demos at various gaming industry events such as Gamescom, Pax West, and Tokyo Game Show throughout the year.
The showcased trailers provide a comprehensive glimpse into the spin-off's storyline, gameplay, and the connections between Gaiden and Infinite Wealth. The trailers cleverly reference various significant events from previous Like a Dragon games, such as Kiryu's family at Morning Glory Orphanage and the disbandment of the Tojo Clan and Omi Alliance from Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
On November 9, 2023, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
