A Pokemon enthusiast and talented artist has created an alternative version of Feraligatr, the Generation 2 Water-type starter, transforming it into a Normal-type Pokemon. For over two decades, fans of Pokemon have been showcasing their impressive artistic talents, particularly focusing on the Pokemon from the first two generations.
During the peak of the initial Pokemon frenzy, the Generation 2 Pokemon games were released. These games, namely Pokemon Gold, Silver, and later Crystal, introduced enthusiasts to the Johto region, along with its array of new Pokemon. While these games brought forth fresh concepts and innovations to the Pokemon franchise, they also retained essential elements from the previous iterations, such as allowing players to choose between three starter Pokemon: a Grass-type, a Fire-type, and a Water-type.
The Water-type starter Pokemon in Pokemon Gold and Silver is Totodile. As it levels up, it evolves into Croconaw at level 18 and then into Feraligatr at level 30. Among all the Pokemon in the series, starter Pokemon often receive a lot of attention from fans and are frequently the subject of fan art. Unsurprisingly, fans have created numerous variations of the Totodile evolution line over the years. One of the latest creations is a Normal-type variant of Feraligatr, shared by Reddit user ShairusK.
The appearance of the Normal-type Feraligatr is quite similar to the Water-type version but with noticeable differences. Instead of having a blue, yellow, and red color scheme, it predominantly features shades of brown and gray. Additionally, its feet and arms have been slightly modified, and the previous red spikes have been completely replaced with scaly skin, giving it a more realistic crocodile or alligator-like appearance. This unique Pokemon design could easily pass as an official regional variant for Feraligatr.
Previous Pokemon fans have already created alternative designs for Feraligatr, including a Paradox form inspired by the new Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Although it is unlikely, there is a possibility that Feraligatr may receive an official makeover in the future, either as a Paradox form or a regional variant. Typically, starter Pokemon have remained unchanged in these redesigns, except in the case of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, where the final forms of all three starter Pokemon received new looks. Whether a new Pokemon Legends game will be developed is uncertain, but if it does and includes Totodile as a starter, it would present the best opportunity for Feraligatr to receive a redesign.
