A Pokemon enthusiast created an intriguing piece of concept artwork for Smoochum, a baby Pokemon, by designing a regional variant and a separate evolution path apart from Jynx. The fan then shared their imaginative creation on social media, receiving gratitude from fellow trainers who also had questions about the new Pokemon concept.

Referred to as the Kiss Pokemon, Smoochum is an Ice and Psychic type Pokemon that made its debut in the Pokemon Gold and Silver games for the Game Boy. As one of the pioneer baby Pokemon, Smoochum could only be obtained by breeding Jynx with another Pokemon, such as Ditto. As it progresses, Smoochum evolves into Jynx once it reaches level 30. More recently, in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Smoochum became available in the wild along the shores of Lake Acuity and certain caves in the Grand Underground. Though not frequently discussed among trainers, this artist's creative take on Smoochum has broken the mold.

On Reddit, an avid Pokemon fan named EliDwebster has created a regional variant of Smoochum with Fire and Psychic abilities. This unique concept, shared on the r/pokemon subreddit, introduces a new evolution called Smoocharm, which occurs at level 30, instead of evolving into Jynx. Drawing inspiration from volcanoes and lava, the concept art for Smoochum and Smoocharm showcases Jynx's signature blonde hair, but with a brown skin tone, an orange outfit, and pink highlights in their hair. With a base stat total of 455, Smoocharm matches Jynx's total, but excels in special attack and HP, while being slightly weaker in defense compared to its Ice and Psychic counterpart.

To add to the uniqueness of Smoocharm, the creator has bestowed it with a new ability called Fiery Passion. This ability, according to the creator's comments, enhances Smoocharm's special attack and special defense when its HP drops below 50%. Additionally, it inflicts the Burn status on all Pokemon in the field. If these variants were to be real, both Smoochum and Smoocharm would have advantageous matchups against Steel, Fighting, Poison, and even Ice-type Pokemon, including the original Jynx. However, trainers using Dark, Water, Rock, and Ground attacks would find it easier to deal with Smoochum and Smoocharm in battle.

Some Reddit users appreciated the idea of a new regional form and evolution for Smoochum, but a few users cautioned that the Fiery Passion ability might be too overpowering to be implemented in reality. It is yet to be determined whether Smoochum and Jynx will make a comeback in the Pokemon series, especially with the possibility of upcoming Pokemon news.
