Fidough and Dachsbun, beloved Pokemon canines, are renowned for their faithfulness and extraordinary skills.
The Chainsaw Man reference grabs interest by intersecting with well-known media franchises, exhibiting the charming depiction of Dachsbun donning Pochita's attire.
A Chainsaw Man-inspired makeover was given to Dachsbun by a Pokemon fan. Dachsbun is the evolved form of Fidough, the Fairy-type Pokemon that resembles a dachshund with bun-shaped ears.
Both Fidough and Dachsbun were introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as part of the Gen 9 lineup. Aside from their charming canine appearances, they are renowned for their loyalty and unique abilities. Fidough's breath contains yeast that induces fermentation, making it handy for baking bread and cooking. On the other hand, Dachsbun emits a pleasant aroma that aids in the growth of wheat, making it a popular choice among farmers as a pet. This demonstrates that even in the Pokemon universe, dog-like creatures such as Fidough and Dachsbun are still regarded as man's best friend.
There are numerous dog companions featured in popular media. Reddit user DarkyLights had the brilliant idea to transform Dachsbun into Pochita from Chainsaw Man. The adorable illustration portrays Dachsbun with an intense gaze while proudly displaying a chainsaw protruding from its forehead. This combination is fitting considering that Pochita, much like Dachsbun, has been a faithful companion to Denji since their youth. Both canine characters are recognized for their formidable abilities and yet maintain an endearing demeanor. In the comments, several Pokemon fans praised DarkyLight's artwork, expressing their admiration for the Chainsaw Man reference and finding Dachsbun's appearance with Pochita's chainsaw to be cute.
This is not the first instance of a video game franchise referencing Chainsaw Man. Riot Games' Teamfight Tactics introduced a Knife Pup Little Tactician in Set 9.5's battle pass. The Knife Pup, a puppy with a blade embedded in its forehead, was intended to be a younger version of the League of Legends champion Naafiri. However, many players noted the resemblance to Pochita.
Aside from Dachsbun and Fidough, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet introduced multiple new creatures that have become cherished by the Pokemon fanbase, despite the games' initial struggles. Among them, the Gen 9 starters, Fuecoco, Sprigatito, and Quaxly, as well as the myriad Paradox Pokemon, gained immense popularity. It comes as no surprise that numerous fans have taken to collecting merchandise and crafting original artworks inspired by their favorite characters from Generation 9.
For fans who adored Dachsbun's Chainsaw Man transformation, there is also the option to acquire a Pochita plushie, allowing them to have their very own cuddly companion at home.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
