Throughout the development of Forza Motorsport, the multiplayer modes have undergone substantial enhancements, introducing a combination of fresh and familiar features. Ratings

To enhance the multiplayer experience, Forza Motorsport offers the exciting Featured Multiplayer option, enabling players to engage in epic races alongside a staggering 23 other players. Nevertheless, accessing this thrilling mode requires players to embark on the Qualifier Series, a sequence of three placement races meticulously designed to ascertain and assign the multiplayer ratings of each participant.

Upon completing the Qualifier Series, every player receives a personal Driver Rating and Safety Rating. The Driver Rating serves as the primary value for matchmaking and represents a player's overall driving abilities and speed, while the Safety Rating is influenced by their conduct on the race track. Safety Ratings range from S (indicating fair and clean racing) to F (referring to unsportsmanlike behavior). This system ensures that fair and skilled racers are matched with one another in Featured Multiplayer, thus creating a more competitive and challenging environment.

The updated Featured Multiplayer mode in Forza Motorsport brings a brand new feature known as the Qualifying session. This session acts as a way to establish a player's starting position for the upcoming race. Players are given the freedom to join the Qualify Session at their convenience, allowing them to participate up until 5 minutes before the start of the highly anticipated Featured Race.

Event Types

The Qualifying sessions can last anywhere from five to 20 minutes, allowing players ample time for practice beforehand. However, those who join late will only have a few minutes to qualify instead. Each player has three opportunities to showcase their best performance, and their fastest lap will determine their starting position for the Featured Race.

Featured Multiplayer includes two unique event types: Spec Series and Open Series. Spec Events guarantee fairness by configuring all cars identically, offering a thrilling and balanced racing experience. The outcome of these races relies solely on the player's driving prowess and strategic choices.

Contrasting with other modes, the Open Series in Forza allows players to participate using any car that fits within the class restrictions. This mode resembles the traditional multiplayer experience found in previous Forza titles, allowing players to make custom upgrades and tuning modifications to their cars. The playlists in this mode are regularly updated with new events, featured racetracks, spotlight cars, and modified race parameters for players to follow.

In the Featured Multiplayer mode, there is typically at least one event available for players to join in each series at any given time. These events start approximately every 30 minutes. Additionally, the Open Series mode rotates through different car classes on a weekly basis.

Featured Multiplayer also incorporates strategic racing components for optimizing performance, including pit stops for managing tire compounds and fuel loads. While shorter races may not necessitate pit stops, changing tires or refueling becomes indispensable in longer races.

Penalties

Private Multiplayer

Using advanced machine learning technology, the Forza Race Regulations act as a highly efficient race adjudication system that can detect and classify a wide range of racing incidents. These incidents can vary from instances of driving off the track boundaries to deliberate collisions and unsporting behavior. Depending on the seriousness of each incident, players may face penalties or even disqualifications from the race.

Up to 31 other participants can be invited by players to join their lobby for a Private Multiplayer race. This feature allows for an enjoyable racing experience with friends and family, where race settings, tracks, and cars can be customized to personal preferences. It is important to note that Safety and Driver Ratings do not come into play in Private Multiplayer lobbies, and the outcomes of these matches do not impact a player's overall ratings. However, it is currently not possible to enable Qualifying in Private Lobbies.

This feature, similar to Free Play, includes various game modes like Circuit Race, Timed Race, Multi-Class, and Meetups.

In Circuit Races, players compete in multiple laps around a racetrack or circuit with the objective of crossing the finish line before their opponents. The default number of laps can be adjusted to match individual preferences.

Time Races have a predetermined duration, challenging participants to reach the finish line before the timer runs out.

In Multi-Class races, various car classes compete in a circuit race. Each class exclusively competes within its assigned category, but all classes race together on the same track.

Unlike official races, meetups do not have any predetermined race rules. During these sessions, players are able to drive around the track without a designated finish line until the session is ended by the host.

Participants have the freedom to personalize various aspects of the race, such as its length, the car class, the layout and temperature of the track, weather conditions, time of day, and race rules. This allows everyone to cater to their own preferences. Preset event rules enable players to modify the level of competitiveness and enjoyment they desire. The available preset options range from highly competitive events with simulated damage, mandatory pit stops, and strict penalties, to more relaxed races with limited penalties and no specific racing strategy.

Forza Motorsport is now available for PC, Xbox Game Pass, and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
