Call of Duty Season 4 Reloaded update introduces new characters and elements inspired by The Boys, including a playable Homelander and the Temp-V drug that grants superpowers. The ongoing Season 4 DLC for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone brings a variety of fresh maps, weapons, and gameplay enhancements. Notable additions include an expanded Gulag area in the popular Vondel map and adjustments made to existing firearms like the 556 Icarus.
Call of Duty has a history of featuring crossover content, even prior to Season 4. In 2020, the Haunting of Verdansk event brought iconic slashers Jigsaw from the Saw franchise and Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre into Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone. Additionally, the notorious Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was introduced as an Operator skin during Season 2 a few months ago. There was even a special collaboration between Call of Duty and Crash Bandicoot to promote the recent Crash Team Rumble game, although it was temporarily removed from COD's online store due to a pricing error.
Earlier this week, Activision announced that the latest DLC for Call of Duty Season 4 would feature three playable characters from the popular Amazon Prime series, The Boys. The official Call of Duty website's patch notes reveal that Starlight will be added on July 12, followed by Homelander on July 16, and Black Noir on July 20. Each character comes with their own unique weapons and abilities. Players can also acquire temporary superpowers by collecting the Temp-V pick-up, enabling them to perform enhanced jumps, create Electric Shockwaves, and utilize Laser Vision.
In addition to the new playable skins and weapons inspired by The Boys, Call of Duty Season 4 Reloaded introduces special challenges themed after the show. By completing these challenges, players can unlock a new universal camo and a Weapon Charm. Furthermore, the MX Guardian, a 12-gauge automatic shotgun, is being added as a new weapon. Lastly, gamers can access a new Operator named Izzy as part of the Tracer Pack: Izzy Operator Bundle.
The Boys continues to be one of the most successful adaptations of an independent comic book in recent years. This success might lead to Homelander making appearances in more than just Call of Duty. An Amazon leak suggests that Vought International's super-powered enforcer could be added as a DLC character in Mortal Kombat 1, adding fuel to previous rumors about his inclusion. In the meantime, fans of Call of Duty will have the opportunity to play as some of The Boys' most powerful Supers in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone, thanks to the Season 4 Reloaded update.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone are currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
