This weekend, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Live Gold subscribers will have the opportunity to play three sports games and one racing game without any cost. Xbox’s Free Play Days program regularly offers specific games for tryouts over the weekends. Recent titles featured in the program include Control by Remedy Entertainment, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, and the parkour-infused cyberpunk game Ghostrunner. Unlike basic demos, this program grants players full game access throughout the availability window.
In 2023, like many subscription services, the price of Game Pass is increasing. The base Game Pass price is being raised by a dollar, while Ultimate subscription will see a $2 increase. Although this may not be favorable news for some subscribers, Game Pass remains an exceptionally valuable service. Perks like Free Play Days further enhance its position as the gaming industry's best value, especially in the Ultimate tier.
Starting from July 6th to July 9th, Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers have the opportunity to download and experience UFC 4 and Ubisoft's thrilling open world racer, The Crew 2, without any additional cost. Furthermore, for those who have subscribed to Xbox Live Gold, an exciting addition to the lineup until July 12th is MLB The Show 23 (already available through Game Pass). In addition, the newly released Super Mega Baseball 4 will be accessible until July 13th. Once these complimentary time frames come to a close, players will have the option to purchase these games at a discounted price, while being able to preserve all their achievements and gamerscore progress.
With the upcoming release of Ubisoft's The Crew: Motorfest, inspired by Forza Horizon, in September, gamers now have a great opportunity to try out Ubisoft's racing franchise, The Crew 2. As the only non-sports game included in this weekend's Free Play Days lineup, it's possible that the ongoing shared-world racing title may experience a slight increase in its playerbase towards the end of its five-year lifecycle. While this is exciting for Ultimate subscribers, some may feel disappointed that base Game Pass users are not eligible. With the pricing changes happening in Game Pass, it will be interesting to see if there are any adjustments to the benefits offered to the different tiers.
