Unleash the Ultimate Power: Play as Mewtwo in Street Fighter 6 Mod

Mewtwo, the legendary Psychic-type Pokemon, becomes a formidable contender in Capcom's Street Fighter 6 thanks to a groundbreaking mod Experience the thrill of playing as this iconic character and unleash its extraordinary powers in epic battles

A modder has added Mewtwo, one of the most iconic Legendary Pokemon, as a playable fighter in Street Fighter 6. Released in June to much anticipation and excitement from fans, Street Fighter 6 not only features familiar characters like Ryu, Chun-Li, and Guile, but also introduces new characters and a brand-new villain named JP. JP, positioned as the successor to the series' previous antagonist M. Bison, showcases his strategic and manipulative nature by using his deadly Psycho Power to create shadowy constructs and play mind games with his opponents. Recognizing the similarities between JP and Mewtwo, a modder decided to replace JP with the powerful Pokemon in a mod.

The mod, created by Mika - Tail Lover on Twitter, aims to replace every member of the Street Fighter 6 roster with characters that have big tails. For the Japanese version (JP), Mewtwo was chosen as the character. The mod uses Mewtwo's model from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but with JP's cane being replaced by a spoon. This spoon is a nod to the Pokemon Adventures manga, where the Psychic-type character uses it as a weapon for self-defense.

Despite some limitations in the mod, such as the exclusion of hand rigging, facial animations, and only one alternate costume, it surprisingly suits a character like JP. The shadowy attacks and effects used by JP blend well with Mewtwo's aesthetics, even though Mewtwo is a Psychic-type character. This mod captures Mewtwo's portrayal in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and can be downloaded from the Nexus mods website for Street Fighter 6.

Players have quickly discovered that JP is a formidable opponent in Street Fighter 6. With his wide range and zoner abilities, JP presents a challenge for those looking to deal damage or close the gap. However, skilled players have managed to find strategies to control the areas of the game that JP dominates. On the other hand, mastering JP's unique moveset may prove to be a daunting task for many, but in the hands of the right player, he can be a force to be reckoned with. Street Fighter 6 is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
