The upcoming month will feature a Splatfest for the Halloween holiday in Splatoon 3. Excitingly, players can expect new outfits and the iconic idols, Deep Cut and the Squid Sisters, to be a part of the event. This will be the first Splatoween celebration in the game since Splatoon 2.
After being skipped in 2022, fans were eagerly awaiting news about a Halloween Splatfest in Splatoon 3 this year. Their wishes have been granted as Nintendo has confirmed the special preparations made to make this event unforgettable.
Nintendo has announced the date, theme, and new offerings for Splatoon 3's upcoming Splatfest on their official social media channels. The Halloween Splatfest will run from October 27th at 5 pm PT until October 29th at 5 pm PT. The theme for this Splatfest is "Which Would Be the Best Friend?" with spooky-themed choices. Team Zombie will be led by Shiver, Team Skeleton will be led by Frye, and Team Ghost will be led by Big Man. Each idol will have a new design for the event. Shiver will wear dramatic Undead Geisha-like red make-up, Frye will wear shimmery chains and wrist bangles, and Big Man will resemble a ghost. Additionally, the Squid Sisters in Inkopolis will be wearing unique Halloween recolors for players who own the Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass.
In addition to the festive appearances of the characters and town, players can also look forward to obtaining exclusive loot. Nintendo will be adding several new cosmetics to the game for this event, which players can unlock from the Nintendo Switch channel closer to the Splatfest. These new cosmetics include the Mummy-inspired Undead Head, Kraken Swim Reaper, Pirate The Plankton Walker, and Bleak Beak Plague Mask. While Splatoon 2 also offered free cosmetics for its Splatoween event, these new designs have not been seen before.
Nintendo has not yet announced the map that will be featured for Tri-Color Turf Wars, nor if the event will have multiple maps like the recent Splatfest. However, the update team has revealed that Mahi-Mahi Resort is undergoing improvements. As a result, it will not be available in standard rotations from October 15 to October 17.
Only time will tell if players will disrupt the current winning streak of the Shiver Splatfest. Regardless of the outcome, it promises to bring some thrilling excitement that Splatoon 2 fans have been eagerly awaiting.
Splatoon 3 is available now for Nintendo Switch.
