Splatoon 3 will soon introduce a feature called Tournament Manager, as announced by Nintendo. This upcoming addition aims to enhance various elements of the game's multiplayer experience. Additionally, the service will automate the setup of Private Battle rooms and generate automatic reports for match results.
In September 2022, Nintendo's third-person shooter franchise released its highly anticipated third installment, which was met with both fan adoration and critical acclaim. Splatoon 3 quickly became a hit in its home country of Japan, where it was the most downloaded Switch game in 2022. Nintendo has continued to deliver updates to the game, not resting on its laurels.
One of the upcoming additions to Splatoon 3 is Tournament Manager, a service designed to make the creation and running of private competitions easier. This feature was hinted at in the official overview of the Splatoon 3-focused Nintendo Direct that took place in August 2022. The updated version of the page, discovered by dataminer OatmealDome, reveals that Tournament Manager will support the creation of competition brackets and automate the process of setting up Private Battle rooms for tournaments.
Tournament Manager will provide automated match result reports, according to the same source. Nintendo has not provided details on how this functionality will be implemented, but they did confirm that Tournament Manager will act as a bridge between Splatoon 3 and the SplatNet 3 app. The current list of features is subject to change, and the launch date for the service is still uncertain.
Meanwhile, Nintendo's Japanese branch unveiled a teaser for the Tournament Manager which showcased its exclusive logo. The logo is in the shape of a shield and incorporates the yellow squid from the Splatoon 3 logo, accompanied by two curving yellow arrows.
Nintendo has not officially confirmed whether Tournament Manager will have offline capabilities, but it is likely to be the case. Splatoon 3 does offer limited offline multiplayer features, with both its Salmon Run and Turf War modes supporting local co-op play. However, it is important to note that the game does not support split-screen multiplayer, meaning each player needs their own Switch console. This has been the case for previous entries in the series, dating back to the original Splatoon game released for the Wii U in 2015.
You can find Splatoon 3 on the Nintendo Switch.
