Originally launched in October 2013, Grand Theft Auto Online is approaching its 10th anniversary and has significantly evolved since its inception. Despite starting out with limited features, Grand Theft Auto Online has transformed into one of the most remarkable multiplayer experiences of all time. Through consistent updates, the game continues to introduce fresh weapons, vehicles, clothing, heists, and missions.
The latest update, San Andreas Mercenaries, was released on June 13 and brought a plethora of new content. This update included six cooperative missions, three open-world missions, improvements to Air Freight Cargo missions and hangars, and a total of 17 new vehicles. While all of these vehicles are highly anticipated, one in particular stands out—the F-160 Raiju jet.
Is GTA Online's Raiju Jet Worth the Money?

GTA Online offers a variety of high-speed aircraft options. Currently, there are six jets available, each with its own unique design and set of skills. The cheapest option is the Besra, priced at $1,150,000. Although it lacks any weapon functionality, it is armored and requires three homing missile strikes to be destroyed. On the opposite end of the spectrum is the newly introduced Raiju, which comes with a hefty price tag but offers impressive firepower.
Taking inspiration from the Lockheed-Martin F-35A Lightning II, the Raiju jet in GTA Online offers a wide range of capabilities. One notable feature is its ability to switch between horizontal and vertical flight using its VTOL system, similar to the Hydra jet. However, the Raiju outshines the Hydra in terms of speed, making it currently the fastest aircraft available in GTA Online, surpassing even the Pyro in terms of speed and acceleration. Additionally, the Raiju boasts exceptional handling, allowing for smooth turns at both high and low speeds.
The Raiju possesses impressive defense systems, with the ability to withstand up to three homing missiles or explosive heavy sniper rounds due to its full armor. Moreover, its stealth systems make missile concerns negligible. The Raiju is the first jet to enter stealth mode, a feature previously exclusive to helicopters like the Annihilator Stealth and the Akula. Engaging stealth mode conceals the Raiju from enemy radars, lowers the players' Wanted level to 2 stars, although weapons cannot be utilized in this mode, and homing missiles can still target the jet if they have a clear line of fire.
When weapons are needed, the Raiju offers a range of choices. Its primary method of firepower consists of dual explosive cannons, albeit with lower fire rate, area of effect, and damage compared to cannons found in other jets, such as the Hydra and P-996 Lazer. Additionally, the Raiju is equipped with two missile launchers capable of firing homing or non-homing missiles. While the Raiju packs a punch, its price tag of $6,855,000 may deter many players. The value of the Raiju largely depends on players' intended usage. If players seek an exceptionally fast, stealthy aircraft for efficient supply delivery, the Raiju is suitable. However, for those desiring an offensive aircraft, the Hydra may be a more cost-effective alternative, priced at almost half that of the Raiju.
Grand Theft Auto Online is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
