Running a business as a CEO in Grand Theft Auto Online may seem like a lucrative opportunity to make quick cash, but its true efficiency remains in question. While it's one of the many ways for players to earn income, it's not necessarily the most profitable despite the apparent prestige that comes with heading a corporation. Introduced as part of the Executives and Other Criminals Update, CEO is just one of several career options available to players seeking to increase their wealth. Regardless of the path chosen, the ultimate goal is to earn as much money as possible to afford expensive items like cars and weapons. However, it's important to note that players must spend money to make money, so the overall worth of the investment depends on the quality of the package.
GTA Online's CEOs Get Exclusive Missions, But At a High Price
To obtain the prestigious title of CEO in Grand Theft Auto Online, players must first purchase an office. This unlocks the ability to hire bodyguards and associates who will not only protect the CEO, but also earn a salary for their services. The most enticing aspect of being a CEO is the exclusive VIP Work missions, which offer a range of objectives from stealing cars to defending armored vehicles from attackers. These missions provide significant additional content and value to CEOs who own an office.
While the CEO position is certainly a lucrative venture, it comes with a hefty price tag. Players must purchase one of the game's four offices, with the cheapest option costing a cool million dollars and the most expensive priced at four million. Players can technically obtain the cheapest office without spending in-game currency, but only by purchasing the Criminal Enterprises Starter Pack for $39. Despite the promising payouts from VIP Work, which can be as much as $35,000, it will take some time for players to recoup their initial investment.
Players don't necessarily have to worry about money problems in GTA Online to enjoy VIP Work, despite the high price tag. With a bank balance of at least $50,000, players can become a VIP for four hours and access bodyguards and VIP Work missions just like a CEO. For occasional players, being a VIP is a more efficient option, as it becomes essentially free once the $50,000 threshold is met. While being a CEO offers enticing business opportunities, players who aren't interested in owning an office may find it more beneficial to save money for other expenses and stick to short stints as VIPs. Ultimately, being a VIP can be just as enjoyable as being a CEO in GTA Online.
Grand Theft Auto Online is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
