Grand Theft Auto Online's upcoming update, set to release on June 13, promises to enhance the gaming experience for players with fresh content and gameplay adjustments. Despite its age, the game has consistently received updates, with recent additions like Dr Dre's The Contract and Los Santos' Drug Wars introducing new ways to earn money, unlock upgrades, and engage in exciting missions. As Rockstar Games remains silent about the development of Grand Theft Auto 6, GTA Online's continued updates keep fans invested and eager for more.
Players will have the opportunity to engage in intense battles against Merryweather and other hostile opponents in the new GTA Online update, named San Andreas Mercenaries. The objective of the update is for gamers to join forces with the Los Santos Angels, a group that aims to dismantle Merryweather's stronghold on the criminal underworld and eliminate their attempts to stifle competition. The highly anticipated return of GTA Online character Charlie Reed will see players partake in a variety of missions, ranging from hacking data to using explosives to obliterate targets scattered throughout Los Santos.
The Mammoth Avenger will be receiving new upgrades, including a full Operations Terminal and improved weapons, as part of the game's new content. Players can now purchase and use the Avenger without the need for a hangar, which frees up GTA$ to spend on improving the aircraft instead of storage. However, those who own or opt to buy a hangar will have the added benefit of customizing their Avenger directly from the hangar. The game will also feature a new weapon, the Tactical SMG.
Aside from these improvements, quality of life enhancements are also in the pipeline. These include restoring all destroyed vehicles with just one insurance claim, easier identification of garages, and the option to sprint by toggling a button rather than holding it down. All of these enhancements and additions will be available across all current GTA Online platforms on June 13. Players can expect an exciting and improved gaming experience.
The longevity of GTA Online may be showing its age, but the consistent updates offered by Rockstar keep its loyal playerbase engaged and content. In contrast, Red Dead Online may have better visuals and gameplay mechanics, but its lack of major updates has left fans feeling unfulfilled and disappointed. While the future of GTA Online's support is uncertain, it's likely that Rockstar will continue to provide fresh content, vehicles, and weapons until the release of GTA 6 and its inevitable online component. GTA Online is currently accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
