Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have maintained a close friendship for over ten years, since originally meeting in 2008 on a double date with Joe Jonas and Nick Jonas.
"We even went on dates with the Jonas Brothers together! It was so funny," Gomez remembered in a 2017 radio interview. "It was awesome because [Taylor] was the girl with the big curly hair, all the bracelets, and cowboy boots. And I was just starting out, and we just connected."
While neither Swift nor Gomez ended up in long-term relationships with Joe or Nick, they did find a supportive best friend in each other. The two women often publicly celebrate each other's career successes and shut down any negativity or disagreements they encounter.

"Thank you to my best friend for welcoming me and my sister into your magical, euphoric, and unique world. I'm proud to call you my friend! I love you now and forever," wrote the Only Murders in the Building actress on Instagram, sharing photos from the memorable night.
Months later, Gomez released her first new song in two years, titled "Single Soon." Swift, on the other hand, took to social media to commend the new record.

Gomez opened up about her relationship with Swift while reflecting on her Hollywood experience, telling Rolling Stone, "I never quite fit in with the popular crowd of celebrity girls. My only real friend in the industry is Taylor, so I remember feeling like I didn't belong. I felt the presence of everyone around me living their lives to the fullest. I had this status, and I was really happy, but … was I? Do these materialistic things bring me happiness? I just didn't like who I was, because I didn't know who I was."

The duo provided a peek into their ten-year friendship after deciding to keep their personal lives more private as they matured.
"There's always been this sisterhood quality, and I don't say that lightly," Swift shared with WSJ. Magazine about her close friend. "Since the day I met her, I knew I would always support her. I have the ability to forgive those who have hurt me in my life. But I'm not sure I could forgive someone who hurts her."
Gomez commended the Amsterdam star for supporting her through personal challenges and praised their close friendship. "There's a lot about my friendship with Taylor that people aren't aware of because we don't feel the need to share everything we do," she explained. "She has been there for me in ways I never expected, flying in when I was hurt or going through family issues. Over the years, she has proven to be one of my closest friends. We may not always see eye to eye, but we have a deep respect for each other."
