In the film, Wanda Maximoff takes center stage after the events of the Wandavision miniseries on Disney Plus. Although viewers were taken aback when she revealed her villainous side, Olsen's performance was exceptional as she beautifully showcased Wanda's remorse and ultimate selflessness towards the end of the movie.

While the character's demise appears to occur towards the end of the Doctor Strange sequel, there are several indications suggesting her survival, alongside numerous hints at her imminent return. These include a producer's remark alluding to Olsen's Scarlet Witch still being a part of the MCU's future. However, Marvel's recent rebranding could potentially imply that her anticipated comeback might not be as imminent or guaranteed as previously assumed. In a listing by Penguin Random House, the forthcoming book titled Marvel Studios The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline, which prominently featured Wanda on the cover alongside other MCU characters, has been modified to exclude her presence. Instead, characters from the Disney Plus series Loki now occupy her previous position on the cover.

The book, originally scheduled for release in September, has now been rescheduled for October 24th. This decision to delay the release came after ample time for the company to revise the design choice of the original cover, which featured Scarlet Witch. However, this revision was only made recently, amidst ongoing fan fatigue and production issues caused by the writers and actors guilds' strike. The strike, which shows no signs of relenting, has already resulted in criticism of Bob Iger's comments on the labor dispute by the star of She-Hulk.

It is also worth noting that the inclusion of Loki characters in the book suggests high expectations for the success of its second season on Disney Plus. This second season, which features Game of Thrones star Kate Dickie as a villain, is highly anticipated in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This anticipation is in contrast to other projects in the franchise that are receiving negative attention. However, if the decision to include Loki characters was based on relevance rather than erasure, it may not be welcomed by fans of Wanda who are hoping for her return.
