Unearthed: A Legendary Find of Magic The Gathering's Ultimate LOTR Card, the One Ring

Magic: The Gathering's elusive 'The One Ring' card, a legendary find, has been discovered and promptly acclaimed by grading agency PSA, causing a stir among avid collectors

Magic: The Gathering's unique "The One Ring" card has been found and quickly graded by leading TCG grading company PSA. Earlier this year, Wizards of the Coast surprised players by announcing a collaboration with Lord of the Rings, which included an exclusive one-of-a-kind card. Collectors have been willing to pay over $2 million for this rare card, and now one collector claims to have discovered it. The hunt for this highly sought-after card has attracted attention from streamers, celebrities, and even professional athletes like Cassius March Sr. of the Chicago Bears. Now that The One Ring has been found, it has already received a high grade from PSA.

PSA and card shop Dave & Adam's have both announced the finding of The One Ring, with the card shop appearing to be in possession of the card. PSA shared an image of the graded card on their official Twitter account, confirming its "Mint 9" grade. Dave & Adam's confirmed their ownership of the Lord of the Rings card through a screenshot displaying feedback from the grading agency. According to Wizards of the Coast, the card can only be found in English-language booster packs.

Although Dave & Adam's has not revealed their intentions for the card, it is evident that fans are willing to pay substantial amounts for it. As early as March of this year, high bids for The One Ring were being submitted, with the initial bids reaching $100,000. Since then, the bidding war has escalated dramatically, recently culminating in a staggering offer of $2.18 million from Spanish gaming store Gremio de Dregones.

The most recent addition to Magic: The Gathering's collection of unique cards has made quite a splash this year. The highly sought-after Black Lotus card, which is recognized as an icon in the game, shattered numerous records when it sold for a staggering $615,000 at an auction in March. Not to be outdone, Yu-Gi-Oh, a major competitor, also witnessed the emergence of a one-of-a-kind card: the Make-A-Wish promotional card called "Tyler the Great Warrior," which fetched over $300,000 at auction earlier this year. It remains to be seen if Dave & Adam's will sell this remarkable card, and if so, how much its price will skyrocket.
