MW3 Zombies is an extraction mode
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 introduces an immersive Zombies experience that diverges from previous iterations of the mode. Unlike the traditional round-based format or the objective-based modes seen in recent entries like Black Ops Cold War or Vanguard, MW3 Zombies presents a thrilling high-risk trio mode set in a player-versus-environment environment. It offers players the freedom to choose their playstyle, including the ability to scavenge for valuable items and equipment, as well as engage in narrative-driven Operation Deadbolt missions.
Weapon types explained
In the same vein as MW2's DMZ, when successfully extracting, you will retain your weapons and gear. However, failing to extract from the match will result in losing everything in your inventory, except for one specific weapon type.
Weapon types explained
In Zombies, you will utilize two types of weapons: Contraband and your insured weapons.

Insured weapons
An exciting feature available to you is the Gunsmith, where you can craft your very own customized weapon blueprint. This blueprint can be created using any unlocked gun from either MW2 or MW3, and customized with any available attachments.
The custom weapon build is securely placed in an insured weapon slot, ensuring it is not permanently lost upon death. However, there is still a consequence. If you meet your demise in Zombies or fail to successfully exfil from the match with your insured weapon, the custom blueprint will be temporarily inaccessible for a period of time.
Contraband weapons
Weapons in the game are initially limited to a single insured slot, however, by accomplishing Zombies missions, players can unlock two additional insured slots.
Weapons can be discovered and obtained in various ways throughout the game world, such as the classic Zombies-style Wall Buys and the renowned Mystery Box. All the weapons that players come across and retrieve during their time in Zombies matches are classified as Contraband.
Store up to 20 Contraband weapons in a locker to have a variety of options for future matches. This will be especially beneficial when your Insured weapon slot is unavailable. However, it is important to note that these weapons will be permanently lost if you fail to successfully exfil with them.

Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z netizen, I am excited about the new mechanics of custom loadouts in Call of Duty: MW3 Zombies. The ability to create my own custom weapon blueprint and use it in the game is a great way to personalize my experience and make it more enjoyable. I also like the fact that I can store up to 20 Contraband weapons in a locker to have a variety of options for future matches. This will be especially beneficial when my Insured weapon slot is unavailable.
However, I am concerned about the fact that I will lose my custom weapon blueprint if I fail to successfully exfil from the match. This seems like a bit of a harsh penalty, and I think it would be more fair if I could keep my blueprint even if I die. Overall, I think the new mechanics of custom loadouts in Call of Duty: MW3 Zombies are a great addition to the game. They add a lot of depth and personalization to the experience, and I can't wait to try them out for myself.
