The Avatar universe may only consist of two films, but it is a vast and intricate world. Despite only having six hours of screen time, the movies have laid a strong foundation for future sequels and spin-offs, delving into the complex world of Pandora, the customs of the Na'vi people, and the malevolent RDA. Now, with the announcement of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, this universe is about to expand even further. Recently unveiled at the Ubisoft Forward showcase, the game boasts unique features, such as the ability to ride on the back of a Banshee or a Direhorse, alongside gameplay that may resemble Far Cry. However, it is the game's story and extensive canon lore that make it a truly intriguing addition to the Avatar universe.
Every New Clan Confirmed for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora So Far
In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, players take control of a Na'vi warrior who was taken captive by the RDA as a child and forced to fight for them. After narrowly escaping death during an attack on the RDA facility, the player-character is placed in cryosleep and wakes up 15 years later on the Western Frontier of Pandora. While the game is set around the same time as the first Avatar movie, it takes place in a different region of Pandora and features a unique set of Na'vi inhabitants. The gameplay trailer reveals that players will guide the Na'vi warrior as they reunite with their home planet and rally the surrounding clans to resist the RDA. As an official entry in the Avatar franchise, Frontiers of Pandora has the potential to expand upon the lore of the movies by introducing new Na'vi tribes and clans.
The Aranahe tribe is the first Na'vi clan introduced in the Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora gameplay trailer. Residing in the Kinglor Forest, this peaceful clan uses the resources provided by the surrounding nature to create clothing and fabrics. As a tutorial clan, they will guide the player through the basics of hunting and take them on their inaugural flight. Moving towards the north, players will encounter the Zeswa Na'vi clan in the expansive Upper Plains, where they have a close bond with the mammoth-like Zakru creatures. The Zeswa clan will teach players the art of taming and riding a Direhorse. Finally, heading to the west will lead players to the Clouded Forest, home to the Kame'tire, the last confirmed Na'vi clan. Despite their role as healers, the Kame'tire have their own mysterious reasons for hiding in the foggy forest.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is set to release December 7, 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
