Ubisoft Announces Closure of Online Services for 10 Games in 2024, Including Previous Assassin's Creed Entries

Ubisoft to discontinue online services for 10 games by 2024, including beloved Assassin's Creed titles like II, Brotherhood, Revelations, and Liberation HD Gamers will sadly bid farewell to online functionality for these iconic games

Ubisoft has announced that on January 25, 2024, a total of 10 older Ubisoft titles will have their online services discontinued. This includes several Assassin's Creed titles for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, which will no longer support multiplayer, the linking of Ubisoft accounts, or the ability to claim Ubisoft Connect rewards. Additionally, other affected titles include Splinter Cell: Conviction for Xbox 360, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier for PC, Trials Evolution for PC, and more.

Below is the complete list of titles impacted by the shutdown:

Assassin's Creed II - Xbox 360

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood - MAC

Assassin's Creed Liberation HD - PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Assassin's Creed Revelations - PC

Ghost Recon Future Soldier - PC

Heroes of Might and Magic VI - PC

NCSI - PC

Splinter Cell: Conviction - Xbox 360

R.U.S.E. - PC

Trials Evolution - PC

Ubisoft has recently implemented service shutdowns for several of its older games. During the October 2022, online services were discontinued for 15 titles, including Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Far Cry 3. Prior to this, Ubisoft had also deactivated online functionality for an even greater number of games (some of which were mistakenly listed) earlier in 2022, such as Rainbow Six: Vegas and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.

Editor's P/S

As a Gen Z fan, I feel disappointed and nostalgic about Ubisoft's decision to shut down online services for 10 older games, including beloved Assassin's Creed titles like II, Brotherhood, Revelations, and Liberation HD. These games hold special memories for me and many other fans who grew up playing them. The online multiplayer and co-op modes in these games were a big part of their appeal, and it's sad to see them go. I understand that Ubisoft needs to focus on newer titles and technologies, but it's still a shame to see these classic games lose their online functionality.

At the same time, I'm also grateful for the opportunity to have played these games and enjoyed them for so many years. I'm sure that many fans will continue to replay these games offline and find new ways to enjoy them. Ubisoft's decision to shut down online services for these games is a reminder that nothing lasts forever, but it's also an opportunity to appreciate the games that we have and the memories that we've made with them.
