Travis Kelce, who is 34 years old, is currently in discussions to be the host of a revived version of the game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? This news was reported on Tuesday, March 19, by Deadline.
The new version of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" will be hosted by Kelce and will be available for streaming on Amazon's Prime Video. However, it has been mentioned that a deal has not been finalized yet.
The original version of the show, hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, aired on Fox for four seasons from 2007 to 2009. The show features adult contestants answering questions from a fifth-grade textbook, with the assistance of actual fifth-grade students.
The show was later rebooted for a Nickelodeon version, hosted by John Cena, which ran for one season in 2019.
While Kelce’s football career is still going strong — he is signed with the Kansas City Chiefs until the end of the 2025 season — plans for his post-playing career have been in the works for some time.
Kelce made a surprise cameo appearance on the sketch show in October 2023, following his hosting of Saturday Night Live in March 2023. His business managers have hinted that this was just the beginning of bigger things to come.
In a January article in The New York Times titled “The People Who Brought You Travis Kelce,” André and Aaron Eanes, long-time friends of Kelce since college, disclosed a strategic plan to propel him to the same level of fame as The Rock.
The twin brothers mentioned that Kelce was receiving movie scripts and offers to host game shows. Aaron explained, "People often tell me, 'Wow, what a hectic year!' But when I tell them, 'Actually, it's not that crazy,' they give me a strange look. It's all about having a plan and sticking to it. And that's exactly what we're doing."
In 2023, Kelce not only gained a new fan base through his connection with Taylor Swift but also made significant career advancements outside of football. His podcast, "New Heights," co-hosted with his brother, Jason Kelce, became a global sensation, consistently ranking at the top of the Spotify charts.
The Chiefs tight end has also been featured in national marketing campaigns for companies such as Experian, State Farm, and Subway. He has even played a role in promoting vaccines for Pfizer.
According to his business managers, all of these opportunities have been part of their long-term vision.
André explained that they had positioned Travis to become world-famous. They were unsure of how or when it would happen, or what factors would contribute to his success, but the idea had always been in the back of their minds.
