Roma have reached an agreement with Chelsea for the season-long loan of striker Romelu Lukaku. High-ranking Roma officials, Ryan Friedkin and Tiago Pinto, traveled to London over the weekend for in-person negotiations with Chelsea regarding the transfer of Lukaku to the Italian capital for the duration of the season.

The clubs have recently reached a significant breakthrough regarding a direct loan agreement, with a loan fee estimated to be around £8m.

Lukaku, who faced a decline in popularity at Chelsea due to a controversial interview expressing his discontent under former head coach Thomas Tuchel, spent the previous season on loan at Inter Milan.

The striker expressed great interest in returning to Italy and gladly accepted the opportunity to go to Rome, driven by his strong desire to reunite with manager Jose Mourinho.

Earlier this summer, Juventus engaged in discussions with Chelsea regarding the acquisition of Lukaku, while Inter also displayed a keen interest in bringing back the talented Belgian international to Italy.
