Chelsea have finalized the signing of Cole Palmer, the Manchester City winger, on Transfer Deadline Day. In this deal, the Blues will pay an initial amount of £40m along with £2.5m in additional fees. As a result, the total expenditure by Chelsea under the ownership of Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital will reach a staggering £1.02bn.
Only £412m was spent by Mauricio Pochettino's former club, Tottenham, in over five years and 11 transfer windows. However, with the addition of Palmer, Chelsea's spending this summer alone will reach £419m. Palmer has agreed to a seven-year contract, with the possibility of extending for an additional year, and will soon join the Chelsea squad before their upcoming Premier League match against Nottingham Forest at home on Saturday.

Chelsea's expenditure on signings under the ownership of Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital has exceed £1bn.
Expressing his enthusiasm upon joining the Blues, Palmer stated, "Signing with Chelsea fills me with excitement, as it feels wonderful to be a part of this team. I have chosen Chelsea due to the promising project they have in place and the exceptional platform they offer me to display my skills."
The squad is young and ambitious, and we hope to achieve something remarkable here.
Palmer participated in Manchester City's Premier League debut against Burnley and was a substitute for the last two matches.
The 21-year-old is eager for more chances in the first team after scoring in both the Community Shield against Arsenal and the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla.
He played in 25 matches for City across various competitions last season and finished as a winner in the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup.
