Sheffield United Women have sadly announced the passing of midfielder Maddy Cusack. The 27-year-old, who joined the Blades in 2019 and made over 100 appearances, passed away on Wednesday, September 20th.
Having previously been employed by the Sheffield United Community Foundation, she had been serving as a marketing executive at the football club since 2021.
Chief executive Stephen Bettis expressed his sorrow in a statement on the club's official website, stating that this news is deeply disheartening for everyone at Bramall Lane.
Maddy's involvement in multiple teams at Sheffield United gave her a distinct position and won her popularity among everyone she interacted with.
Her exceptional character and dedication to her work were a source of pride for her family - her absence will be deeply felt. As the club processes this news and looks toward the future, we commit to providing extensive support to Maddy's loved ones, friends, and colleagues.
