Police have said there are no suspicious circumstances regarding the death of Sheffield United Women midfielder, Maddy Cusack.

Cusack, 27, died on Wednesday.

Derbyshire Police announced on Monday that the individual was declared deceased at a residence in Horsley. However, authorities have determined that the death is not considered suspicious. A spokesperson for the police force stated that they received a report regarding the incident at a property on Lady Lea Road in Horsley on Wednesday, September 20, shortly after 6:35 pm.

"A woman, in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Her family are aware and are being supported by specialist officers.

The death is not considered suspicious, and the coroner's office is preparing a file. A spokesperson from Chesterfield Coroner's Court has confirmed the report of the death, and an inquest will be opened in the future.

Cusack, who had a role in the club's commercial department as well, held the title of the longest-serving female player for the Blades and was also the first to reach 100 appearances. Prior to Sheffield United's Premier League match against Newcastle United at Bramall Lane on Sunday, tributes were paid to the midfielder.

Before their game against Newcastle on Sunday, Sheffield United players paid homage to Cusack by donning shirts bearing his squad number, eight, and observed a minute of silence as part of the pre-game rituals.

Fans also held up signs and flags while the club flag at Bramall Lane was flown at half-mast.
