Sheffield United manager, Paul Heckingbottom, expressed the club's deep sorrow and lamentation in the wake of the untimely passing of Maddy Cusack, a prominent member of the women's team. As the team's most enduring female player and recently appointed vice-captain, her demise on Wednesday has left a profound void.
The club plans to honor Cusack, who previously worked in the club's marketing department, at Sunday's Premier League game against Newcastle. Additionally, Burnley and Nottingham Forest, her former clubs, have decided to reschedule their women's games this weekend. Heckingbottom stated, "Our primary concern is with Maddy's friends and family, many of whom are employed by this football club."

"Maddy, especially in my time here, has been a big part of everything, a senior figure among the women's team and the media team as well.
She was constantly visible to everyone. The situation is challenging, and we must ensure the well-being of everyone in the club and provide support for one another during this heartbreaking news.
"(Chief executive) Steve Bettis contacted me yesterday, and it caught me off guard. While we are focused on preparing for a significant game and eager to move forward, it has deeply impacted many individuals.
We prioritize the well-being of everyone, but our primary concern is Maddy's family. Our heartfelt best wishes are with them.
Cusack's image will be featured on the front cover of the club program, and players will wear black armbands. Additionally, we are currently discussing other appropriate ways to honor Maddy's memory.
"We are currently making plans and engaging in discussions for a tribute, and it is crucial for us to maintain a high level of respect towards Maddy's family. We aim to include them extensively and ensure their complete understanding of our intentions," Heckingbottom emphasized.
"While expressing our profound respect, thoughts, and emotions, it is essential for us to allow her family to take the lead."
The Football Association has expressed its condolences following Cusack's death. A formal tribute for the former England U19 international is scheduled to take place at a future date. Baroness Campbell, speaking on behalf of the FA, the Lionesses, the Women's Super League, and the Women's Championship, extended thoughts and heartfelt condolences to Maddy's family, friends, teammates, and all those at Sheffield United.
Maddy, who had also represented England at a younger age, will be honored in due time, according to chief executive Steve Bettis in a statement on the club's official website on Thursday.
