Hardwick breathed life into the charismatic, chain-smoking exterminator across 258 episodes of the show. His portrayal of Dale extended beyond the television screen, as he also lent his voice to the character in video games based on the series as well as the 1999 music video for "Get In Line" by the Barenaked Ladies.
TMZ has reported that law enforcement officials discovered Hardwick's lifeless body during a welfare check at his residence in Texas. While the cause of his death remains undisclosed, no suspicious activity is being presumed.
