Tori Spelling reached her breaking point in her marriage with Dean McDermott when a baked potato was smashed on the floor - literally.

During the April 8 episode of her "Misspelling" podcast, Spelling, 50, revealed, "I took my most prized possession in that moment - my loaded baked potato - and I smashed it on the ground. I've never seen a baked potato fly like that. It was a wall-to-wall mess, on the floor, on the oven, everywhere."

Spelling opened up about the fight that caused her and McDermott to split after 18 years of marriage. During a recent episode of her podcast, she shared how excited she was about ordering a loaded baked potato from Wendy’s. However, things took a turn when the argument escalated and the potato ended up flying across the room.

Realizing she had gone too far, Spelling admitted, “I dirtied the kitchen with that potato.” She then retreated to the bedroom she shared with her kids, as she and McDermott had been sleeping in separate rooms for three years.

Spelling and McDermott had their last fight in June 2023, which was also the day he shared (and later removed) an Instagram post about their breakup. In a recent podcast on Monday, Spelling mentioned that he was feeling very upset and requested a divorce.

“He’s threatened it so many times, but I’ve never actually said that. There were moments when I really wanted to, but I would never say something I didn’t truly mean,” she explained. “I just thought it was another argument.”

Spelling was completely unaware of the announcement being made on Instagram. It was actually her eldest daughter, Stella, who first saw the post and immediately called McDermott to remove it. (Spelling and McDermott have five kids together: Liam, 17, Hattie, 12, Finn, 11, Beau, 7, aside from Stella.)

The next morning, McDermott finally took down the Instagram post. Spelling mentioned that she had a difficult night dealing with the situation and her children.

"She mentioned that McDermott, who is now sober, was at the peak of his addiction struggles and it was affecting their lives significantly. She also expressed regret for not speaking up about it at the time."

She announced it on her podcast 'Misspelling' by calling McDermott during the recording session and informing him that their marriage was officially over."

During the April 1 episode, she expressed her feelings about filing for divorce first. She believed that since everything was already made public in the Daily Mail, where McDermott shared details of their relationship, it only made sense for her to be the one to file. She mentioned that there were things she had kept private, which McDermott chose to disclose.

In November 2023, McDermott gave a surprising interview to the Daily Mail. Despite the news of their divorce, he mentioned that things between him and Spelling were going well.
