Tori Spelling continues to share surprising stories on her new podcast.
In a recent episode, the 50-year-old actress talked about the challenges of raising her five children while her husband, Dean McDermott, was receiving treatment for substance abuse. She mentioned that during this difficult time, their family ended up living next to a drug dealer.
Spelling shared on her "misSPELLING" podcast on Monday, April 8, that she had dedicated her time to caring for her children and they were not prepared to reconnect with their father. She visited him once during his rehab, but the session with therapists turned painful and argumentative. She noticed he was still struggling with anger and aggression, so she decided not to return. Although she knew it hurt him, she believed it was the best decision for her children at the time.
She mentioned that her main focus was on her children - Liam, 17, Stella, 15, Hattie, 12, Finn, 11, and Beau, 7.
She explained that she was dealing with the emotions of five kids while also facing the press labeling her as homeless and living in an RV. They had an Airbnb next to a drug den, which they only found out about in the morning when they were told to leave. The police and S.W.A.T. were involved, and there was an armed man next door with a possible hostage situation. Despite the chaos, she joked about how she never realized the danger next door and was glad she never went over to ask for sugar. She emphasized that her life is always busy and full of unexpected events, so she had to stay focused.
Spelling launched her new podcast shortly after filing for divorce from McDermott, 57, on April 1. In the first episode, she called her spouse to let him know that the legal paperwork was in order. Despite McDermott being the one to announce their separation on social media in June 2023, he was surprised by Spelling taking the initiative to start the legal process.

Spelling told McDermott during their recorded phone call that she feels she should be the one to file for divorce first. She mentioned that he had already shared details about their relationship with the Daily Mail, including things she had never told anyone before. Therefore, she believes it would be fitting for her to take the next step and file for divorce.
In November 2023, McDermott went public with their relationship problems in an interview with the Daily Mail. He attributed the breakdown of their marriage to his struggles with alcohol. McDermott also made some negative comments about Spelling, mentioning that they started sleeping in separate rooms because she allowed their pets to sleep in their bed. Spelling addressed this story for the first time during a podcast episode on Monday.
In 2017, when I was pregnant, the pig ended up in our bed. We had a baby pig and I was told it needed to sleep in a bed! Spelling joked about how it peed in the bed and that was the end of that.
Despite the disagreements caused by the pig, McDermott assured reporters that he and Spelling are on good terms. According to a source, both of them believe that getting a divorce is the best decision for everyone involved.
