Since Todd Chrisley and wife Julie Chrisley reported to prison in January, their experiences have been quite unenjoyable.
Todd, 54, expressed his disgust during an interview on Chris Cuomo’s CUOMO show on Friday, December 8, stating that the food was extremely filthy and expired by at least a year. He claimed that the men were being starved to death, receiving only around 1,000 calories a day. In an attempt to avoid the expired food, Todd has used his own money to buy groceries from the commissary, but he alleges that an employee is attempting to stop his supply.
"A staff member is trying to undermine me by reducing the items available for purchase in the commissary," he revealed. "Before she arrived, I could buy 12 packs of tuna per week. She lowered it to six, and then to three without explanation. When I asked her, she stated that commissary privileges are not a given right."
The former Chrisley Knows Best star also claimed that the quality of the food he purchases himself is being affected.
"There are rats and squirrels in the storage facility where the food is," Todd stated. "They tried to cover it up with plastic, but had to tear out the ceiling due to black mold. They found a dead cat in the ceiling, which dropped onto the food."
Furthermore, Todd claimed that a group of employees is attempting to undermine him during his tenure at the Pensacola, Florida facility.
“They suggested putting him in diesel therapy, shackling him, and letting him travel the country to humble him. He may think he's in one of his mansions, but this is the Bureau of Prisons. That's what he needs," Todd said.
He also alleged that the staff attempted to extort him by sending a photo taken of him while he was sleeping to his daughter and demanding $2,600 a month for his protection.
In January, Todd and Julie, both aged 50, began serving their prison sentences after being found guilty of tax evasion, conspiracy, bank, and wire fraud in 2022. Todd received a 12-year sentence, while Julie was sentenced to seven years and is currently serving her time at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
According to the couple's attorney, their sentences were reduced under the First Step Act, leading to Todd being scheduled for release in January 2033 after serving around 10 years of his original sentence, and Julie's sentence being shortened to about five years.

Todd and Julie's children have openly criticized their parents' poor living conditions in prison. The couple has three kids together, sons Chase (27) and Grayson (17), and daughter Savannah (26). Todd also has two children from a previous marriage, daughter Lindsie (34) and son Kyle (32), with ex-wife Teresa Terry.
Chase described the conditions as "so terrible." He mentioned on the "Chasin' Birdies" podcast that it's not like a country club, with his father in a location that has black mold and his mother's situation being even worse, lacking air conditioning, and living in a camp-like area that is slightly better but still not behind a wall.
