TimTheTatman, a well-known YouTube personality, has requested the removal of his Call of Duty Operator bundle from Activision's hit franchise. This comes after the company delisted NICKMERCS' Operator bundle due to the streamer's anti-LGBTQIA+ comments. TimTheTatman, who made his Twitch debut in 2012 and signed an exclusive contract with YouTube in 2021, has built his career around streaming various first-person shooter games. Earlier this year, he made his debut as a playable character in one such game and was added to Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 alongside NICKMERCS. Fans were given the opportunity to play as their favorite streamers through their digital doppelgangers. TimTheTatman is also currently working on a battle royale game with other top streamers, including Ninja, set to release in 2024.
TimTheTatman has taken to Twitter to request the removal of his Call of Duty Operator bundle from the game, citing the recent removal of NICKMERCS' bundle as the reason. The streamer expressed his discomfort with the idea of him having a bundle while his friend does not. NICKMERCS' bundle was removed after he tweeted in apparent support of anti-LGBTQIA+ protesters who attacked demonstrators outside a school board meeting in Glendale, California. The tweet, which suggested that members of the LGBTQIA+ community should "leave little children alone," was posted during Pride Month and at a time when members of the community face increasing violence and hate speech in the United States. While TimTheTatman's stance may be surprising to some, he is not the only high-profile content creator to come to NICKMERCS' defense. Dr Disrespect, another YouTube streamer, uninstalled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in protest and called for an apology from the game's developers. Dr Disrespect is no stranger to controversy himself, having had his E3 badge revoked in 2019 for filming people using a public restroom at the now-defunct gaming trade show.
It remains to be seen whether Activision will comply with TimTheTatman's request to remove his skin from the game, but his actions have stirred up even more controversy surrounding the removal of the NICKMERCS Operator bundle. This latest twist in the ongoing debate makes it clear that the controversy is far from over, and gamers can expect to hear more about it in the future. Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is currently available on a variety of platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
