Wyatt Russell, the star of Thunderbolts and upcoming MCU film, is eager to start filming and believes it's time to create a successful Marvel movie. Marvel has faced challenges at the box office in 2023, with only Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 finding success. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels were both disappointments both critically and financially.
The next few MCU releases carry significant weight, with Deadpool 3 and Captain America: Brave New World leading Phase V, followed by the kickoff of Phase VI with Fantastic Four. Following these, Thunderbolts will bring together a star-studded cast of heroes, anti-heroes, and even a few villains for an epic team-up movie.
Thunderbolts star says “it’s time to make a good Marvel movie”
Wyatt Russell returns as John Walker/US Agent from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in Thunderbolts, and during the promotion of the new series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, he teased what audiences can anticipate from the film.
Russell, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, described the upcoming Marvel movie as not just a typical one seen in the past. He believes it will be a lot of fun but also different enough for Marvel fans to take notice and go all in. He emphasized the need to work hard and not take anything for granted in making this new Marvel movie.
Russell acknowledges that he has not read the final script yet, but he is optimistic about the approach and the director, Jake Schreier.
"I am confident that it will turn out well. I realize that many people are currently disappointed with the direction of Marvel films… I have a close relationship with Jake and I know how intelligent and dedicated he is to creating something unique and thought-provoking, while making the best use of everyone's skills. The story they have developed, in my opinion, is truly intriguing."
Starring Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, and Harrison Ford, Thunderbolts is scheduled for release on July 25, 2025. However, due to writer and actor strikes, the release date may be postponed. For additional Marvel content, visit our website and explore our other superhero hubs below.

The cast is incredible, the story sounds intriguing, and I have faith in director Jake Schreier's vision. I think it's important for Marvel to take risks and try new things, and I believe Thunderbolts could be the movie that does just that. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us.
