Thrill-seekers left hanging: The upside-down ride experience on Japan's roller coaster

Thrill-seekers at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka experienced a heart-pounding moment as a roller coaster abruptly halted, leaving riders suspended upside down over 100 feet in the air

Riders on the Jurassic Park-themed Flying Dinosaur attraction at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka were left hanging upside down over 100 feet in the air after the roller coaster came to an sudden stop. A total of thirty-two people were stuck at the highest point, some 130 feet above ground on Thursday, as confirmed by a media representative with CNN.

No injuries were reported and passengers were safely escorted via an emergency staircase.

"The safety procedures were followed and our staff ensured the passengers reached a secure location," a representative stated on Friday, noting that the ride remains closed for inspection.

Guests of the attraction are taken on a thrilling ride through the air on an "out of control" Pteranodon, one of the largest flying reptiles. Riders experience a 360-degree swing through the world of Jurassic Park, as stated on the theme park's website.

In 2021, Fuji-Q, a Japanese theme park, indefinitely closed down one of its high-speed roller coasters for safety investigations following reports of injuries from some riders.
