Birds of a feather! Heidi Klum gave fans a rare glimpse at three generations of her family in a sweet selfie.
Heidi Klum, the former host of America's Next Top Model, shared a heartwarming moment with her eldest child, Leni, and her mother, Erna, on Sunday, June 11. Klum's caption for the social media post was simply three red heart emojis. The supermodel looked stunning in a blush top, with a big smile on her face. She kept her beauty look subtle with mascara and eyeliner, while her blunt bangs and long blonde locks fell in tussled waves.
Leni, 19, stood next to her mother, resembling her in appearance. She wore a white shirt and had long blonde hair that was parted in the middle, similar to her mother's color and texture. Erna, the grandmother, was on the other side of Leni in the photo. She wore a floral blouse and accessorized with a diamond necklace and ring, smiling from ear to ear for the camera. Erna also had blunt bangs like her daughter and had shorter sun-kissed hair.
Heidi Klum announced her pregnancy with her first child with then-boyfriend Flavio Briatore in December 2003. However, the couple split before their daughter Leni was born in May 2004. Klum then went on to marry British singer Seal in 2005, who eventually adopted Leni when she was five years old. Together, Klum and Seal had three more children - sons Henry and Jonah, and daughter Lou - before their separation in 2012.
The former couple has successfully co-parented their four children over the past 10 years, with Seal even accompanying their daughter Leni to the Shotgun Wedding red carpet event in January. Although Heidi Klum has always tried to maintain her children's privacy, she has recently become more open about her bond with Leni, especially after the two graced the cover of Vogue Germany together in December 2020.
Leni revealed that her mother’s best advice to her is to stay true to herself and not let others’ opinions affect her decisions. In Rollacoaster’s Autumn/Winter 2021 issue, Leni shared that Klum has always emphasized the importance of saying no when necessary. Despite being a model herself, Klum had initially forbidden Leni from modeling at the age of 12 when she was approached for a Brandy Melville campaign.
Seal expressed his concern about Leni's career choice in May 2021, stating that he believed it was a risky path for her to take at just 17 years old.
"I personally think it's a precarious road to take," the musician shared. "It's rare for it to lead to happiness, but ultimately, it's not my decision to make. As a parent, you have to support your children in whatever makes them happy. While it's important to keep them safe and secure, you also have to let them go and pursue their dreams. In the grand scheme of things, they don't face the same challenges that others do. They have a comfortable home and access to education and food. It's important to keep things in perspective."
Leni appears to be thriving in her chosen profession, as evidenced by her recent collaboration with Klum on a photo shoot for Super Magazine. The shoot, which was held in honor of the late photographer Richard Avedon's 100th birthday, featured the duo posing together in black-and-white photos. During the shoot, Leni and Klum shared a warm embrace, laughed together, and struck powerful poses. Klum's signature blonde locks were on full display, while Leni sported a chic, short brunette hairstyle.
