Zoë Robins Talks The Wheel of Time Season 2
Zoë Robins discussed her return to The Wheel of Time for season 2, delving into Nyneave's transformative journey and more.Screen Rant: What aspect of Nyneave’s story was the most exciting for you to film this season? Because there's a lot going on.
Zoë Robins: There's definitely a lot to look forward to. Undoubtedly, episode three showcases significant character growth. However, throughout the entire season, it has been fascinating to witness Nyneave's evolution in accepting herself, her powers, and the unexpected talents bestowed upon her. Her journey is a continuous process of learning to embrace the present and release the burdens of the past. Season two delves even deeper into this aspect, which has been an absolute delight to explore.
As for the beloved Nyneave/Lan romance that resonated with fans in the first season, I regretfully cannot provide any specific details regarding its development in season two.
Zoë Robins: The love is genuinely present, and I hope it translates convincingly onscreen. I apologize for the vagueness.
The duration of working on these shows must be incredibly challenging. As the casting was announced in 2021 for this season, it has been an extensive period where you've had to remain tight-lipped about everything. Does this drive you insane?
Zoë Robins finds it beneficial not to have a social media platform as she believes she would consistently mess things up. In the first season, it felt like they were working in isolation, unsure if the show would ever be released after years of dedication. The release brought immense relief, followed by the thrill of a second season. Filming began in 2021, and it has been a challenging task to keep things organized and recall scenes filmed years ago. However, being part of such an expansive project is a blessing, requiring extensive shooting to bring the story to its full potential.
You're amazing as Nyneave, and she's adored in the books for her stubbornness, loyalty, protectiveness, and fierceness. Which aspects of her personality do you relate to the most, and which one is the most challenging to connect with?
Zoë Robins: I feel a strong connection to her deep affection for her loved ones. It wasn't difficult for me to understand the willingness to go to any lengths for those you love. That's what ultimately guides her choices and nearly everything she does. I truly admire her assertiveness, her straightforwardness, and her authentic self. Regardless of whom she's speaking to, she always expresses exactly how she feels about anything. I do wish I had a bit more bravery. It would be immensely helpful in certain situations.
About The Wheel of Time Season 2
Influenced by Robert Jordan's popular fantasy series, The Wheel of Time, a modest farm boy named Rand al'Thor (played by Josha Stradowski, known for his role in Gran Turismo) discovers that he is The Dragon Reborn—a legendary figure with the fate of the world in his hands. As he grapples with his growing powers and the threat of madness, a formidable group of women must shield him from the clutches of the Dark One. The Wheel of Time continues to turn, heralding the approach of the monumental Last Battle.
Although Rand believed he had vanquished the Dark One, evil persists in the world. In the show's second season, new and ancient dangers pursue the young friends who hail from the Two Rivers, now scattered across different lands. The woman who once guided and protected them finds herself powerless, compelling them to seek strength from other sources. Perhaps within themselves or their bond with one another. Or they may be forced to confront the influences of the Light or the Dark.
