Elizabeth Olsen, a successful actress in her own right, has a deep admiration for her elder sisters, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen. According to the WandaVision star, her sisters have imparted valuable advice throughout her career, including recommendations for professional collaborations and insightful critiques of her acting performances.

"I have learned a lot from my sisters, especially regarding important life lessons, but there are certain things that I have figured out on my own," said Elizabeth, star of the movie "Liberal Arts". "Contrary to popular belief, my sisters and I don't live together in New York and I don't spend my time practicing lines with my roommates."

Mary-Kate and Ashley first gained fame for their roles as Michelle Tanner on Full House, which aired from 1987 to 1995. They later starred in popular TV series like Two of a Kind and So Little Time, as well as direct-to-video movies such as Billboard Dad, Holiday in the Sun, Winning London, and Getting There. Despite achieving success at a young age, the twin sisters went on to establish their own fashion labels, The Row and Elizabeth & James. The latter brand, named after Elizabeth and their brother James Trent Olsen, exemplifies the strong familial bond between the siblings, as evidenced by the Avengers: Age of Ultron star wearing it at the 2021 Emmys. “People should feel more empowered as women now more than ever,” Elizabeth reflected in an interview with Us and other reporters in October 2017, as she discussed growing up with the Olsen twins as older sisters. “I don’t really know how my parents instilled that sense of empowerment in me, but it’s something that my sisters and I continue to try and understand.”

The alum of "Sorry For Your Loss" also mentioned that the three sisters always had a sense of empowerment and were taught to pass it on to their future children. Despite keeping their personal lives private, Elizabeth doesn't hold back when it comes to expressing her admiration for her older siblings.

"I've always seen having twin sisters who are older than me as a benefit," shared the MCU actress in a profile with Harper's Bazaar UK in May 2022, following her marriage to Robbie Arnett. "I had a clear idea of how to tackle various situations by observing them, and I always felt secure and safeguarded. Although I will never know what it's like to have that twin bond, I consider myself fortunate to witness it."

Doing Her Own Thing

Being overshadowed by Mary-Kate and Ashley during her childhood posed certain difficulties for Elizabeth. When she was just 10 years old, she made the decision to discard her last name and be known only by her first and middle names: Elizabeth Chase.

"I didn't want to be linked with [Mary-Kate and Ashley] during that time," shared the Wind River star with Glamour UK in April 2021. "As a 10-year-old, I somehow grasped the concept of nepotism. I may not have known the term back then, but there was this idea of not deserving something that bothered me at such a young age."

Following In Their Footsteps

Elizabeth learned not only from the hard work ethic of her twin sisters but also gained valuable insight into fashion and style from them. She shared with ASOS magazine in 2012 that she refrained from buying new clothes for two years and even wore a grey faux-fur jacket that was a sample from The Row that never went into production. Elizabeth attributed her ability to make do with what she had to her parents, who instilled in her the habit of regularly going through her closet and passing on clothes to her younger siblings. Although she often outgrew her older sisters' hand-me-downs, she still admired their style and would feel envious when her friends received their clothes.
