However, after being explained that it is due to the multiverse, the MCU veteran shared her thoughts on Driver potentially taking on the iconic role.

Why John Krasinski Isn't Returning As Reed Richards In Fantastic Four

Even though John Krasinski made a brief appearance as Reed in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it was never intended for him to play the lead role of Mister Fantastic in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. Krasinski's potential casting was actually a result of Kevin Feige taking notice of the overwhelming fan support for him to portray Reed. When the idea was presented to director Sam Raimi, it was viewed as a fun nod to those fans.

However, the plan for the MCU's Fantastic Four movie always involved casting a new actor as Reed, along with the three other heroes. Since Raimi was not directing the reboot, it was up to Matt Shakman and Feige to find the perfect actors for Reed, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm to bring their vision to life. Only time will tell if Driver will be cast as Reed or if the reports were just rumors.

Marvel Studios is hard at work finding the perfect actors to fill the iconic roles in Fantastic Four. Perhaps they will have some exciting news to announce at San Diego Comic-Con this summer.
