The Unforgettable Line Tom Hiddleston Crafted in the Epic Loki Season 2 Finale

Tom Hiddleston's genius shines in Loki Season 2 finale as he delivers an iconic line that he himself improvised, leaving fans in awe Plus, find out if the highly anticipated Loki Season 3 is in the works

In the Season 2 finale of Loki, co-director Justin Benson recently disclosed that Tom Hiddleston personally conceived Loki's most unforgettable line.

In the concluding episode titled 'Glorious Purpose,' Loki finds himself in a desperate quest to rescue the multitude of timeline branches within the Marvel Cinematic Universe by manipulating the Temporal Loom. Despite numerous attempts, Loki's efforts prove futile, and he subsequently discovers from He Who Remains, portrayed by Jonathan Majors, that the Loom is unchangeable.

Before setting out on his fateful march towards the Loom, Loki is faced with a choice: either kill Sylvie in the past to avoid the Loom's destruction or destroy the Loom and deal with the repercussions. After having deep conversations with both Sylvie and Mobius, Loki ultimately decides to choose the latter option. But before embarking on his journey, Loki turns to Sylvie and Mobius and delivers the standout line in the finale of Loki Season 2.

Tom Hiddleston improvised the best line in Loki Season 2 finale

The phrase "For you, for all of us," holds significance as it refers back to Loki's first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the movie Thor released in 2011. In that particular film, Loki utters these words to rationalize his wicked actions to his father, Odin (played by Anthony Hopkins). Consequently, by reintroducing this line in the episode 'Glorious Purpose,' it emphasizes Loki's transformation from being a villain to becoming a hero.

Justin Benson, via ComicBook.com, revealed that it was actually Hiddleston who came up with the full circle moment for the Loki Season 2 finale. He mentioned that the line was developed on the day and originally did not include the callback to Thor.

"And during the multiple takes we did because we knew it was Tom's final line, he suggested a callback to the very beginning," Benson recounted. "We tried it once, and we knew that was the perfect take." Benson also discussed Loki's character development leading up to his courageous act of self-sacrifice in 'Glorious Purpose'.

"Throughout several movies and TV show episodes, Loki gradually transformed from being just the show's antagonist to gaining a sense of humanity," Benson elaborated. "But in that final moment, it becomes evident that he has fully embraced his humanity, only to give it up for the greater good."

Is Loki Season 3 happening?

Although fans of the MCU enjoyed the reference to Loki's past in the Season 2 finale, the majority are already obsessed with his future. At present, there is no announcement regarding Marvel Studios continuing with a third season of Loki or confirming if the show's second season marked its conclusion.

The team responsible for the show has further contributed to the uncertainty surrounding the possibility of a third season of Loki. Notably, executive producer Kevin Wright has recently shown interest in creating another set of episodes, while Eric Martin has made it evident that Season 2 concludes the narrative he intended to tell.
