Highlights
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's DLC releases have been sporadic and lack clear communication, leaving fans waiting for extended periods of time.
The release dates for DLC 5 and DLC 6 of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot have not been confirmed, leaving fans uncertain. DLC 5 will feature the World Tournament Arc, and leaked information suggests that DLC 6 will focus on the Peaceful World Saga. Furthermore, reliable rumors indicate that upcoming DLCs may explore content from Super or GT.
Although the notion of enhancing the game's content is thrilling, it might prove more advantageous to develop distinct games for Dragon Ball Super or GT rather than continually augmenting Kakarot's narrative.
According to credible recent rumors, it appears that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot intends to introduce additional content to further delve into Goku's story. However, the current pace of these updates truly exemplifies the term "long-term plans." While the gaming industry is accustomed to delays and periods of limited content, the sporadic release of DLC for DBZ: Kakarot seems irregular and suggestive of circumstances beyond ordinary delays.
As many are aware, DBZ: Kakarot has a history of lengthy gaps between game releases. These delays were often attributed to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in its early stages, which resulted in fan anticipation for the first, second, and third DLCs. To everyone's surprise, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot recently announced the upcoming release of DLC 4, focusing on Bardock's story. Additionally, DLC 5, centered around the 23rd World Tournament, was confirmed in February 2023, featuring various exciting elements such as new playable characters. However, despite the passage of five months, there has been no confirmation of an official release date for this DLC.
Where is DBZ: Kakarot DLC 5 and DLC 6?
Following the release of DBZ: Kakarot's Bardock DLC, fans may have expected a faster pace for upcoming DLC releases considering the time gap between DLC 3 and DLC 4. However, this is not the case. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 5 is hopefully slated for release by the end of 2023, but there are no guarantees. In the meantime, reliable leaks suggest that DBZ: Kakarot DLC 6 will focus on the Peaceful World Saga, and there are plans for additional DLC that will introduce content from DB Super and/or GT. This is exciting news for the game's future. Despite being a single-player game, extensive support like this is common in the DBZ game series. As long as Xenoverse 2 continues to receive support, there is unlikely to be a Xenoverse 3 release.
Xenoverse's multiplayer nature ensures consistent player engagement, contrasting with Kakarot being a single-player game. While it is acceptable to ask players to return periodically, expecting them to return at irregular intervals poses a different challenge. Considering the absence of information regarding DLC 5, it seems unlikely that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 6 will release before the year's end, and its subsequent release remains uncertain. Establishing effective communication would be beneficial; however, it may be more advantageous to develop dedicated Dragon Ball Super or GT games instead of expanding Kakarot. Simultaneously, embracing a long-term vision for DBZ: Kakarot is strongly encouraged. Many fans eagerly anticipate these DLCs and the accompanying rumors, but improved planning may be necessary if there is indeed a long-term plan. Until then, each DLC feels like a temporary obstacle, extending the time between their releases and hindering progress.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
