The Stranger Things universe is expanding rapidly, and We is brimming with potential spinoff ideas.
Ever since the debut of Stranger Things in 2016, viewers have been captivated by the enigmatic town of Hawkins, Indiana. As the Netflix series garnered more success, the Upside Down and the supernatural beings it introduced hinted at the vast possibilities for the future of Stranger Things' storyline.
In February 2022, the executive producers of Stranger Things, Ross and Matt Duffer, confirmed that the show was not actually coming to an end, despite season 5 being the final season. In an open letter, they revealed that they had planned out the complete story arc for the show seven years ago and initially predicted it would span four to five seasons. However, they realized that the story was too expansive to be concluded in just four seasons. Nevertheless, the upcoming season 4 will serve as the second-to-last season, while season 5 will mark the ultimate conclusion of the series.
Keep scrolling to explore some of the spinoff ideas we have for the expansive universe of Stranger Things:
Hopper and Joyce in High School

We are always eager for more Hopper and Joyce content, particularly if they are the focus of the show. In the second season, it was revealed that the couple had a history from their high school days. Their dynamic intensified as Hopper (portrayed by David Harbour) and Joyce (played by Winona Ryder) navigated their emotions for each other. Now that their future together is confirmed, the potential for a prequel series featuring Hopper and Joyce is boundless.
Steve and Robin’s Babysitting Adventures — With the Kids

Stranger Things succeeded in portraying Steve's (Joe Keery) character development exceptionally well, leading to a surge in his popularity. Initially, he was depicted as Nancy's (Natalia Dyer) envious boyfriend, but with time, he transformed into a heroic figure who repeatedly played a vital role in saving the town and its residents, especially the children. Therefore, it seems fitting for the Duffer brothers to continue the enjoyment by creating a whole series centered around Steve and his thrilling adventures.
Ideally, a show centered on Steve would showcase his close friendship with Robin (Maya Hawke) and his deep bond with Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo). However, at this point, we would appreciate anything that allows us to witness Steve's iconic hairstyle and his reliable baseball bat.
The Main Group in a Different Decade

The Netflix series has maintained its '80s setting since its premiere. However, the young actors have significantly matured, making it challenging to believe that their characters are still portrayed as teenagers.
Creating a spinoff that advances the core group's age allows for the nostalgia to resonate through various decades. Additionally, this gives the Stranger Things stars the opportunity to portray characters closer to their actual ages.
Nancy in Her Single Era

Are you on Team Steve or Team Jonathan (Charlie Heaton)? What about Team Nancy?
Instead of primarily fixating on Nancy's romantic choice at the series' conclusion, fans should direct their attention to the direction of her storyline going forward. Stranger Things presents a remarkable chance to explore Nancy's journey as she ventures beyond Hawkins and establishes herself in another setting (or even multiple locales), all the while prioritizing her professional growth.
The Vecna Prequel

In Season 4 of Stranger Things, Jamie Campbell Bower made his debut as Vecna, a menacing adversary who not only increased the tension but also captivated viewers. Originally, Vecna was a young boy named Henry Creel who relocated to Hawkins with his family. His fascination with the supernatural led Henry down a treacherous path, ultimately landing him at Hawkins Lab under the care of Dr. Brenner. Attempting to escape, Henry found himself engaged in a fierce battle with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) that resulted in his banishment to the Upside Down. It was there that he transformed into the formidable Vecna.
Given the groundwork that had already been established for Stranger Things' most significant antagonist, it is only fitting to delve further into Vecna's backstory through a separate project.
The Origins of Murray

Thank You!
Murray's actions in his own show may not hold much significance, but the mere opportunity to witness them is what truly matters. Initially introduced as Hopper's peculiar companion, Murray swiftly emerges as an essential character, aiding Joyce and the others in unraveling the enigma at the heart of Hawkins. Yet, it is undeniably evident that Murray's past is brimming with thrilling escapades, eagerly awaiting exploration.

Eddie: The Early Years
Courtesy of Netflix
It can be said with certainty that Eddie (Joseph Quinn) surpassed all expectations and quickly became a beloved character after being introduced in season 4. Embracing opportunities when they arise is completely understandable, and in this case, it means exploring the captivating story of this high school student.
Due to Eddie's untimely demise, there are limited opportunities to depict scenes from the present timeline. Nonetheless, a series centered around Eddie's experiences in high school and his adventures in Dungeons and Dragons could be expertly crafted.
