Duffer Brothers Confirm: Stranger Things Wasn't Just a Dream

Fan theory suggests that the popular Netflix series, Stranger Things, may end with a surprising twist revealing that the entire storyline was intricately woven into a game of Dungeons & Dragons

The creators of Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer, have made it clear that the Netflix series will not conclude with the revelation that the events in the show were simply part of a Dungeons & Dragons campaign. The brothers responded to a fan theory suggesting that the Upside Down and its connections to Hawkins, Indiana were all a figment of the imagination in the game. They swiftly dismissed this notion.

Ross Duffer dismissed the idea, stating, "That's not how we're going to end the show. We've known for a while where we've been going and feel comfortable with it. Hopefully, it satisfies everyone. We'll see." The Duffer brothers were asked about the show while attending the premiere of The First Shadow, a Stranger Things prequel play set in 1959 London, following a young Henry Creel, who becomes Vecna in the Netflix series. Clues for Stranger Things: Season 5 may even be hidden within the play.

The release window for the final season of the show has not been announced. Earlier this year, the writers of Stranger Things referred to Season 5 as a combination of Season 1 and 4, comparing it to a baby injected with steroids. As a passionate fan of Stranger Things, I was thrilled to hear that the Duffer Brothers have confirmed that the series will not end with the revelation that it was all just a dream or a Dungeons & Dragons campaign. This theory had been circulating among fans for some time, and I was worried that it might actually come true. I'm so relieved that the Duffer Brothers have put this theory to rest and assured us that they have a satisfying ending in mind for the show.

I'm also excited to hear that the final season of Stranger Things will be a combination of Season 1 and 4. Season 1 is my favorite season of the show, and I loved the way it balanced the horror and supernatural elements with the coming-of-age story of the main characters. Season 4 was also great, and I think it did a good job of bringing the show back to its roots while also introducing some new and exciting elements. I can't wait to see how the Duffer Brothers combine the best of both seasons in the final season.
