The highly anticipated Street Fighter 6 boasts an incredible lineup of seven new playable characters, including the much talked about Luke, who is integrated into the thrilling World Tour story mode. This mode allows players to create their own character and navigate through Metro City to progress and improve their skills. While some may wonder about the absence of classic characters, fear not, as eleven of the eighteen fighters are returning to the ring as both beloved heroes and infamous villains. Let's take a closer look at each of them and evaluate their redesigned appearance in Street Fighter 6.
11 Guile
Guile is undoubtedly one of the most popular characters in the franchise, thanks to the huge success of the "Guile's theme goes with everything" meme that made him an online sensation. However, it's hard to ignore the fact that his recent redesign has left him looking a bit odd. With a new blonde goatee and an unusual blue jumper, Guile's previously cool and iconic look has been somewhat compromised. Despite this, he remains a firm favourite among fans and is still a lot of fun to play as online.
Zangief remains just as massive in Street Fighter 6, with Capcom only making a minor change to his appearance by giving him wrestler pants instead of his usual unitard. While it isn't a groundbreaking redesign, this colossal wrestler can still crush his opponents if they're not careful.
9 E. Honda
E. Honda's appearance as a sumo wrestler in the series has always been distinct. He typically adorns either a traditional piece of underwear or a pair of shorts around his waist. In this game, he retains this signature look, but with the addition of a robe draped over half of his body. While this detail may appear overly busy for his character, it does not hinder his ability to execute powerful slaps in the ring.
8 Chun-Li
Chun-Li’s design hasn’t changed much over the years. Her body shirt or gown got altered over time, but she usually sported stockings on her legs.
Chun-Li's appearance in Street Fighter 6 has been updated with pants and a more modest chest size. This change not only adds to her dignity in battle but also reflects a more modern and respectful approach towards female representation in video games, especially for one of the most iconic female characters in the Capcom universe.
7 Ken
Ken's appearance in Street Fighter 6 has taken a turn for the worse. His once vibrant and energetic look has been replaced with a worn-out and disheveled appearance. His outfit is reminiscent of a homeless person's attire, with a clear lack of care and attention put into his appearance. It's a shame to see such a beloved character look so defeated and downtrodden.
6 Dee Jay
Dee Jay's appearance in the ring exudes pure joy and energy, with his wild hair adding to the overall excitement. Over the course of the series, his design has undergone a significant transformation, particularly in Street Fighter 6 where he appears much more muscular and imposing. Despite this, he remains agile and graceful in battle, although his attacks now pack an even greater punch.
5 Ryu
Capcom's decision to give Ryu a beard in Street Fighter 5 was a game-changer. Fans of the Beard Daddy were ecstatic, and it's no surprise why - Ryu's new look is both rugged and stylish. Along with his signature beard, Ryu's outfit in this game features tattered pants and a shawl draped over his body. Although the shawl may be distracting, it doesn't detract from the fact that Ryu remains a classic fighter.
4 Juri
Juri's attire differs from Chun-Li's in terms of clothing removal. Her trousers remain as loose as they were before, reminiscent of a backup dancer for MC Hammer in a past life. Her body is covered in black electrical tape, which may explain her ferocity in the game. Despite its cool appearance, it can't be comfortable. She is a formidable villain in the Capcom universe.
3 Dhalsim
Dhalsim's appearance has remained consistent throughout the games, with his bare-chested physique and cloth covering his legs still present in Street Fighter 6. However, his aged skin and white beard add to the mystique of his character, adding to his overall zen-like demeanor. Despite his advanced age, Dhalsim is still capable of stretching his limbs and breathing fire like a seasoned fighter.
2 Cammy
Cammy's outfit in Street Fighter 6 has undergone a redesign that gives her a more practical and sporty look. She now wears a combo top and bottoms that resemble workout attire, with a stylish jacket featuring the Union Jack. This new design not only looks great, but it also seems much more comfortable than her previous unitards.
1 Blanka
Blanka is a standout character in World Tour mode, thanks to his infectious cheerfulness and hulking appearance. With his new design, which sees him donning overalls and looking like a green version of Donkey Kong, Capcom has truly outdone themselves. While he may not be the most exciting character to play, his redesign is undoubtedly one of the best things about Street Fighter 6, which was released on June 2, 2023, and is available on a range of platforms including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
